Don't the other Rox players have any books written about them? Steve? Hakeem? Should have tons of insider info too.

    lebron's nike deal is 90 mil, kobe 70 mil? 90+70x0.67 ~= 137 mil

    Wow

But for how long? I guess it doesnt matter.

He also said the current rebook deal is 40% of that 137 mil. So it's around 55 mil. Again how long? I guess it's still good money.

There is intersting thing About JVG's couching:

    ...

At portland, their first pre-season game on the road, the team
arrived the previous night and checked in the Portland's river
side hotel. If Rudy were the couch, players would have been
required to assemble at 4PM next day. It would a night for
parties and some fun. Even the players come later in the
midnight or the morning, they still have time to sleep to
the afternoon and the game will not be affected. After everyone
having got their room cards and considering where to spend
the happy time, JVG spoke in the lobby.

He said, "I hope you all have a good rest tonight. You should
get up tomorrow at 8AM. we have breakfast together. Then
    again together for the lunch."

This kind style of managing a basketball team is exactly what
Yao Ming has been used to. American players have never seen
this before. Although they see each other (confusely or uncomfortably), they have to accept the arrangement reluctantly.
Last season, Steve Francis was found drinking at party in Houston and he could not find his legs the 2nd day for
the game with Grizzles. Rudy had to say he injured his waist.
Those 'good' days are gone. On the roster of JVG, he has a
bunch of forwards and guards (?). He said, "Every one must
meet my requirements. If any five players are qualified, I will
    let those five to play."

    ...

precisely why JVG was (and is) the better coach for this rockets team than rudy was/is. ironically, in the future, that will probably change, as the players mature and take more responsibility for their actions. but, for now, the players needed (and need) someone to be the stern father figure that also cares.

I guess JVG won Ming's heart right there. Ming is smart and grateful, so he appreciates JVG's effort. It's always very important to apreciate each other at any working place. From the book, we can see that SF and Ming really have a nice relationship, which is also can be seen clearly many times during the games. They both want to succeed, together. I am really optimistic of this team. Plays can be adjusted and improved, but the fundation - understanding, supporting each other, is there all the time.

    lol!

i do find it interesting, though, that JVG keeps bringing in people that have bought into his philosophy previously. it's a very effective way of entrenching your belief system into a team that tends to waver from it. victory by majority, so to speak.

Someone should photochop this pic and make it a Rockets team photo. :D

Actually, the coach looks a bit like Rudy.

That's not possible. The current CBA has a defined cap for the maximum a player can earn. Players that had contracts before this agreement have their pay scale grandfathered in, but new player's contracts will have to adhere to the max. Therefore KG's contract is larger than the max that Yao can sign for. Unless of course you're talking about a shoe deal, in which case I would agree.

True. Yao paid US$12million to his Shanghai Sharks club to come to NBA.

Even though he makes a lot of money, $12million is stagering consider the average income in China is US$1200 per head.

BTW.At first ,they even ordered 50+% of Yao's income of his entire NBA career.Thank GOD,they didn't prevail. But $12million still made Yao hurted.
    They are robbers!!!!

the golf clubs story is F'ing hilarious. "americans are so honest" had me rolling.

it was like yao just said "sure, take them" for fun and steve already had them in his trunk and was driving away before yao knew what happened.

You mean steve is also a robber like Shanghai Sharks club and China Sports Association.

Why everyboby just want to gain some extra advantage unfairly from Yao?

The book is telling me that Yao is a traditional Chinese person, which is unique. Rox is lucky to have him.

According to Yao, later in the Chinese new year, SF3 gave Yao a
    gold watch as a gift
