I remember seeing Ricki Lake flip a switchblade and the announcer saying her name in a trailer for a Johnny Depp film, and wondering if her show was a sitcom the first time I saw the listing in the Chronilog. Jenny Jones was just standing by herself in a room cracking jokes during the first promos for her show, kind of reminded me of the pre-pilot ads for Sonny Spoon with Mario Van Peebles just riffing.

This is a symptom of a bigger issue in Western 'first world' society. It's nothing new, though, you can go back to the Romans and see where it happened, too. And we know what happened to the Roman empire. It's Personality vs Character. We (Western Society) value personality over character. In other words, we value what people look like, what they have and what they say over what they do. Case in point: every politician. More info on Character vs Personality here.
RIP to The Maury Show (1991-2022). It was a really good run across two different production companies (Paramount, Universal). Those "You Are Not the Father" reveals/dances will live on forever. But the pandemic really sunk that show. Not having a live audience the last two seasons was a killer. At least I still have The Price is Right.
I never watched her show, but Rude Jude from that show has been hosting a show on Eminem's Shade 45 for a while. I used to love some of the old school mixes he would thrown in. I had never heard of the guy before, then when I was listening a few years ago, decided to look him up and found out he was on her show.
