1. It doesn't matter if they beat the door down or just walk right in...if they're inside your room/house/apartment uninvited, they're trespassing. This is particularly so with a residence. 2. You're wrong...if I tell you to get off my front yard and you don't, that's trespassing. And again...it doesn't matter that YOU don't see it as trespassing..it's called the law. 3. "I hate you" with a political message tied to it...directed towards a Muslim in this political climate...is likely hate speech in most states. More importantly, it's tied in with threatening behavior. The guy with the wooden plank trying to enter her room without her permission is a complete idiot. 4. Prosecutors don't prosecute in a bubble...they take all the facts in. These guys didn't like her political statement so they tried to enter her room with a wooden plank. When they couldn't get in they left a hateful message. Who know what they would have done if they had entered, but it can certainly be inferred from the circumstances. Just because you disagree with me, doesn't give you the right to enter my residence with a wooden plank in an attempt to threaten me. I'm not sure which country you're living in...America or Nazi Germany. These sorts of activites were encouraged back in the "good old days" I suppose...they're criminal here. God bless America!
If she wants to hang an American flag upside down, and despises America, why doesn't she go to school in another country? The same country that is affording her a Yale education, is the same one whose flag she's turned upside down? If you dislike America or firmly disagree with American policy, just simply leave the country.
this is more of a legal discussion. i'm not arguing subjectively...i'm arguing objectively from the law itself.
are you willing to say that when american policy goes against what you believe? i'm not...i'm ready to stay and fight and change it how I'd like it to be.
This isn't Oceania... we are allowed to not agree with what the government is doing if we don't like it... Who are you? The thought police? some people...jeez
True, We are allowed to express our opinion, and if the opinion is unpopular you have to expect ridicule. As for breaking in, that is uncalled for, and it is just as illegal as the anti war protesters blocking traffic, both should be punished. DD
1. Thet were not inside her room. They were in the suite. That is not hers, it belongs to all her suite mates and is my bet that the suite itself is maintained by the college. I know we never cleaned our hallway, it was left for the maids. The only thing I leased was the room itself. Maybe it's different at Yale. 2. She never told them to leave, she was hiding. I agree with you if she confronted them and asked them to leave then I understand. 3. Is she Muslim? I never read that in the article. Maybe Lo is a Muslim name, but until it says she is Muslim I don't believe it 4. Again how was the plank used? I have yet to read that it was used. Again carry ing th eplank around doesn't look good but did they use it.
1. You're missing my point...they attempted to enter her room uninvited. 2. She was hiding...that makes my freaking point!!! They were threatening her. She was scared enough that she thought it necessary to hide. 3. She may not be Muslim...I think somebody said she was. You're right..I re-read the article, and it's not mentioned there. 4. It doesn't matter how the plank was used...it created the apprehension of fear...it creates enough circumstantial evidence to let a grand jury and ultimately a jury decide they were attempting to enter her room to commit a felony (hurting her/destroying property, etc.)...the very definition of breaking and entering. And we already know the girl was afraid, hiding in her room. These guys are done. Bring this case to Harris County and these guys would do time.
Or she could work to change said policy. If people followed your advice then this country would still have slavery, Native American genocide, women not allowed to vote, etc. All were "American policy" at one point.
Did she want debate or not? She is not very in touch with America. I think support for the war was something like 70%. Who is ignoring public opinion of the nation?
Nope unlike most of too PC people in this country, who write letters to the editors and cry to their friends when they don't like something, I prefer to tackle a situation head on. If the little girl wants to make a statement to the public, then she better be ready to defend her statement. Now the guys who took a board with them had the wrong idea, but in general if something is bothering me I'll goto the source. I have no problem with people going to her room. It is wrong if they beat her door down or threatened her but if she is willing to make a political statment that ticks me off (or others) then she better be able to defend her stance. She is a publicity w****. She made a statement, wasn't willing to stand behind her beliefs (if she felt strongly enough she should have faced the men wheter she was scared ort not), then of all things talked to the press afterwards and copied the note over to other activists. So maybe most of you can accept seeing a US flag hung upside down or burned, but me personally, I won't. Yes that is freedom of speech, but somethings I don't agree with. So mor epower to these young AMERICANS for confronting her, although I wish they had done it slightly diferrently.
Since so many of us disagree with 4chuckie, we should round up a posse, go into his home and tack up a sign that says " You are a ****ing idiot. We hate you." By his logic, we will be perfectly justified.
Aww, y'all are being too hard on 4chuckie. You have to admit that "he" is a lot more brave than this unuhmericun hippie chick. ... I mean, what could be more bold and brave than posting bile on a BBS. Right? Personally, I like kidrock8's vision of Uhmerica, in which the only people remaining just toe the line, shut up, go to their local Walmart, vote for the same party, check their spines at the door, etc. What a lovely image that is. Makes me hum the national anthem.
