ELITE production from one of the most scarce offensive positions in baseball. Yanier’s success here recently coincides with the Astros’ sitting in 1st place this morning. When Tucker gets back this 1-5 is going to be one of the best in baseball.
I know the Guardians/Indians have had a great team this season, but those fans are probably disgusted that they could have had Diaz in that powerhouse lineup. Astros knew Diaz was ready to be an everyday MLB fellow, so much that they traded their first rounder Korey Lee.
also, Yainer is now number 7 in batting avg in the AL...... I think a BOLO needs to be issued for Mr Rvo384..... seems he found a garbage truck and took a nose dive in the back
Insane how he really doesn't strike out that often despite chasing out of the zone so much. If he can cut that down and learn to take a walk, he'd be the best catcher in baseball in spite of his mediocre defense.
Yanier flattened his swing a bit this year in order to keep the barrel in the zone and limit the strikeouts. His trend offensively is on the path to multiple all star appearances if he stays a catcher.
He needs to improve the framing. Other than that he's been about what I expected this year. If he can't get better at framing it might make sense to stick with Caratini as primary C with Diaz splitting time between C and 1B. Caratini is really ****ing good behind the plate and has been smoking the ball this year.
