Yes. He was awesome last season with the bases empty. Splits don't really matter until there's about 1000 PAs (2+ full seasons)
I have always felt Carlos Santana is a good comp for Yainer. Caught 89% and DH'd the rest as a 24 yr old. Caught 65%, DH and 1b 43% as a 25 yr old Caught 70%, DH 19%, and 1b 16% at 26 Caught 55%, DH 31%, 1b 19%:at 27 Caught 7% as a 28 yr old. Never Caught again and has played over 1300 at 1b and over 300 at DH but only 330 at catcher He is currently still playing as a 38 yr old and has a .775 OPS, good for 120 OPS+. * the reason the % don't always add up to 100 is he played of and 3b some but mostly because playing both C and 1b in the same game.
We once the said thing about this kid from Seton Hall in the early 1990s... (Didn't realize that Mike Piazza only played roughly half his games at first only for one season... 519 innings there for his career... 13500+ at first. Him being a fulltime catcher really boosted his WAR.
Yeah Chas McCormick is Jason Lane and Yainer Diaz is Craig Biggio or Carlos Santana. They definitely aren’t Chas McCormick and Yainer Diaz.
I'm 49.6 (literally, my bday is 12/27)...bring it strong or don't bring it at all. If you need me to, I can throw LH
