If anthony was clean cut as say durant, you would call him a superstar and they're both the same player. Since anthony has had some maturity issues, he's not a superstar in your book. Anthony is the 6th or 7th best player in the entire league and its hard to dispute that guy not being a superstar. He's a max type of guy and even then, martin makes 12m or so also. You won't get a player like anthony for pieces like they did artest, it doesn't work like that unlike denver gets extremely desperate.

Asidd1990, thats the struggle of the nets right now. They won't give up lopez, but favors is in the mix if they do the deal. The nets are also one of the teams that will make a run at him in the summer if they on't get him this year. My bet is denver doesn't trade carmello and do a sign and trade in the summer.

Don't really see the Knicks getting Melo unless they wait till he becomes a free agent.

@AlanHahn Source tells @newsday #nyknicks aren't "being as aggressive as they should" in their pursuit for Carmelo: http://bit.ly/a8uZzs #NBA

@AlanHahn A second source admits trade talks w/ DEN for Melo is "a moot point", but Knicks have not tried to engage a third team to make it work

no one knows for sure but rumors has placed Martin and NY picks

based on salary requirements and what Denver has said they wanted its easy to speculate that Battier, Jeffries would have to be included in the deal

AFTER they won the title? you cant be serious

basically in the 80s: Magic, Bird, Dr.J, Isiah were all superstars if not more on their teams when they played in the case of Magic and Bird it was clear that they were some of the best ever to play

in the 90s: Isiah, Jordan, Hakeem, Duncan, Shaq

once again all of these players were superstars when they won I dont think there was ever a discussion saying "you know that Hakeem guy wasnt too bad after all he was a superstar" today because everyone thought he was just an all-star then

in the 00s: Shaq, Duncan, <2004 pistons team anomaly>, Wade, Kobe, Garnett, Pierce

once again all of these players were recognized as superstars when they won there was no re-written history on them.

History is the greatest indicator of the future

superstars and superduperstars' teams win titles in the NBA

there has been nothing to show that Martin or Brooks could ever be at the same level Anthony is. Anthony is consistently in MVP voting and has lead his Nuggets to the playoffs every year he has been in the league. taking the Nuggets in 2004 to 43 wins when they had just 17 the year before (the only other significant roster addition that year besides Anthony was Andre Miller)

Brooks, Martin these guys aren't going to be leading their teams into the playoffs let alone the finals. Those are the type of guys you want on your team so your team could be dangerous in the playoffs. You need a superstar like an Anthony or like Yao, heck even like McGrady when he was healthy to lead a team into the playoffs. Brooks and Martin are amazing complimentary players, but thats the key complimentary

Melo has more competitive fire than McGrady ever did, he has accomplished far more than what McGrady has in terms of success in the league and as I said you saw more of this in Anthony last season and the season before that A rookie Anthony was a scorer but the guy has matured over the past two seasons, maybe its him getting older, maybe its Billups putting some character into him but whatever it was, it has helped him.

Fine you dont want him, not a big deal really and chances are he wont be on this team but I do not feel this team has enough talent to compete with the Lakers, Magic, Celtics and Heat in a 7 game series. Its not like teams are trying to trade away their superstars. If the Jazz had Deron Williams on the block I'd be screaming to trade everyone on the team including Les Alexander to get him on the Rockets over any other available star. The thing is superstars really dont get traded often by their teams and when there is an opportunity to get one you go for it. Right now the only name out there that would make this team go from really good to great is Anthony. Any other move would be lateral, the Igoudalas, the Grangers type deals.

I would take Durant....and you have Anthony rated way too high, IMO.

For me it is more about seeing a guy who BURNS to win the game.

I see a guy more interested in being famous than someone who hates to lose.

And that to me spell disaster.

Nope, Favors isn't in the discussions because apparently, Avery Johnson doesn't want to give him up and has convinced management that he will turn out to be the next KG or Duncan.

Avery Johnson says Derrick Favors isn't being shopped for Carmelo Anthony, preaches patience

About the S&T, Denver would be a fool if they do that. Who knows if Melo will just upright leave them and they could get their best offers NOW because later, teams will now they are desperate and won't offer up anything other than trash.

    Adrian Dantley wasn't that good.

But Budinger and Brooks are potential superstars, guys.

    You guys are funny.

Go ahead and desire Melo...it's cool, I hear what you are saying and understand that you think it makes the Rockets better.

    I disagree.....

    Let's see what happens.

Totally disagree with you here lee. Anthony and Durant are not the same player. Durant is still very coachable, works to add to and improve his game constantly and I believe has not reached his ceiling. I think right now Durant is a better leader than Anthony. I don't see Anthony getting any better than he is right now. Durant if he has not yet will be a top 3 player in the league IMO, Anthony will not. I love the fact that Durant stays humble and does his talking on the court. If I had the choice between the two it would be a no-brainer, Durant everytime.

FYI, Melo has improved every year since he's been in the league, and he's not yet even reached his prime. He's only 26!

During his 1st couple of seasons in the league, he was a bonafide scorer, but he's added a post game to his arsenal and has show to be a good low post defender and single man coverage.

Durant gets bullied by more physical defenders like Artest, Melo doesnt.

if we can send out Jared and Shane and some how get back Deng I would be down with that.

He seems like a talented high character guy and he is only 25.

They only down side is his price tag. He is making Kevin Martin money and does not provide the same level of offense.

However he is a 2 way player and is above average on both sides of the ball.

For some reason the bull always seem to want to unload him.

FYI, Durant turns 22 (!) this month. Durant is in a different stratosphere in terms of potential.
