We have 3 legitimate 20ppg scorers in Brooks, Marting and Yao, and other very good complimentary players....we do not need to get one dominant scorer who does nothing else on the basketball court.

If you can get Melo for nothing, do it, otherwise....pass....which uh, melo doesn't do....

    ;)

Yeah, I can see a little of that.....but Dantley was not a superstar either...so yeah..even more of that...lol.

And IIRC, Dantley played hard on both ends and rebounded fairly well too....

Yes. Every single GM would say that Melo is better than every player on our roster.

This is why DM is supposedly open to anything in these trade talks.

And good job btw on comparing JR Rider to Melo. One guy barely averaged 20 ppg once in his career and one guy has never averaged lower than 20 ppg.

    Google is your friend, DD.

What do you call a 6 time All Star who played for 15 seasons and is in the Hall of Fame?

The guy was a trip back when he was playing, lol!

I am just comparing him to players who scored pretty well but did little else......which is very Melo-ish.

And if Melo is as coveted as you say, then why aren't teams lining up to offer everything to get him?

NJ pulls favors back, Chicago pulls Noah back....I mean those guys are not as good as Melo, right?

I think Melo is one of the most overated players in the entire NBA.

A star player, but not a Superstar one.

Being an All star doesn't really hold that much weight since the fans vote them in.......

Melo can board and has averaged at least a steal per game in every season thus far.

And your question has been answered. Bigs are hard to come by. Plus, Chicago would be paper thin if they traded Noah.

And I doubt NJ has pulled back Favors. Denver wants Lopez. And as mentioned by posters, NJ can't trade their 2011 pick so that could be the major issue.

Please answer this. Why is DM supposedly open to anything in trying to acquire Melo?

    1. DM's job is to look at everything he thinks might make the team better.

    2. There is no evidence at all that DM is all that hot about Melo, he could be just as easily kicking the tires.

    3. DM may make a minimal offer, or he may be looking to facilitate a trade and garner more assets for the Rockets.

Contrary to fans belief, DM has not gone "ALL IN" on Melo.....

Yeah, that is a good point....still doesn't make them a superstar though, just makes them an allstar.

I'm pretty sure a guy that has never missed the playoffs in his career, made the WCF very recently, is an elite offensive player, and an above average defender is a superstar. If that doesn't qualify someone as a superstar, IDK what does.

It may to you, but to me it does not.....

There are very very few Superstar players, they are guys that can lift their teams up to greater heights and impact the games in a myriad of ways...other than just scoring.

Melo is elite at one aspect and poor at others....lots of NBA players are elite at one thing and not as good as an all around player.

To me there are very few Superstars, and Melo is not one of them.

There is something I don't like about Anthony already....which is his desire to win. If you have a player willing to go to a place that suit his lifestyle, ect., and foregone championship ring...that raise a red flag about that particular player...it raises questions about his competitive nature and desire to win a Championship. I can even see that on the court at time....his demeanor..that a la T-mac smile after making a shot.

Now in regard to 3 way trade, I don't think NY have anything that the Nuggets want even a 3 way trade, the Nuggets are not getting any valuable pieces back. Secondly, we should play hardball when it comes to dealing with the Knicks because we owned their picks...and so any help will diminish the value of our picks. Unless we get a significant piece back by giving up JUST an expiring contract of Jeffries.

Remember, we still have to sign Aaron Brooks next year. And Shane Battier too....he's still valuable imo.

That's the main issue. I can't see DM tying up 14-16M to the PG position. Something has to give.

Dude, what's up with the Thug reference? Has Anthony been accused of crimes in the past, jailed, placed in prison and no one knows about it except you. I'm not trying to be faceitous but you seem to have a severe dislike for a player who right now is better than any player the Rox currently have on the roster. It seems a bit personal and not bball related.

He was arrested at the airport for mar1juana, and also was in a "No snitching" gang video.

I don't know, seems pretty thugish to me.

And yes....I personally think his game is way overated.

And think the Rockets are built the right way, and Thugelo doesn't fit.
