This deal works in RealGM money wise for what it's worth:
    Gallinari to Houston

    Randolph, Curry, Chandler from NY
    Jeffries and Hil from Houston

Additional compensation to Denver would be 2012 pick from Rox and NY 2014 Pick

That's 4 young cheap players going to Denver with cap relief. Rox could a part of the TE as well.

I just think Gallinari fits perfectly with what Adelman likes in his SF.

Will there ever be a multi team trade where DM isn't involved?

No one wants to help NY. Otherwise, we wouldn't get all their picks last season. Similarly, if we don't help them this time, no one would help them either. Melo wouldn't join them. The NY picks are still valuable.

No, the ace in the hole is his wife, who apparently is a no-talent wannabe starlet obsessed with New York. Whatever.

I am talking about Melo basically letting it be known that he would only sign an extension with the Knicks...

Then it would be prudent to try to get something out of the deal.

I am pretty sure he is not coming to Houston anyway.....so why not try to get something out of it?

I'm all for that cheif, just don't know if Denver would be. That's not a bad get for Denver. They rebuild their frontcourt (which is said to be their priority) with Randolph and Hill, and they get the expiring contracts they want.

Do I think it will happen? No... but I wouldn't mind it. I completely agree with you that Gallinari would be an excellent fit (at least on offense) in our system. Love the way he shoots the ball.

It's okay for him to go to the Knicks as long as all the surrounding talent is removed. Let Carmelo live with money, stardom and a wealth of Bronx cheers.

I'm operating under the assumption the 3-way deals are centered on getting Cleveland or Toronto to swap all/part of their $14M TE for the big expiring deals that Denver is lukewarm on taking back - If they move Anthony, they'll be awful and want out of the luxury tax immediately. Paying Eddy Curry for an entire year at dollar-for dollar is a grim prospect for a team already looking to bottom out in the standings.

Since the Knicks reportedly aren't even bothering (or got shut down so fast no one realized they made a call), I'll skip them and focus on the other 3.

Chicago is probably offering Deng, $3M cash, and a 2nd rounder to CLE/TOR in exchange for $11M worth of the TE, Say what you will about his contract, he'd immediately become the best scoring threat on either team and at least give the Cavs a feint hope of being on the right side of 30 wins.
Chicago would then be able to offer DEN:
$11M TE, 1st rd pick, Gibson, and maybe Kyle Korver or James Johnson

Jersey would try and offer Murphy, cash, and a 2nd rounder to CLE/TOR for a TE. He's expiring, which would make it easier on the receiving end, and he's also a capable starting big. He'd instantly become the best (only) rebounder for either team and can play alongside Varejao or Bargnani well.
    Nets then offer DEN:
$12M TE, 1st rd pick, Humphries ($3M expiring), and Favors (after trying to convince them to take Terrance Williams and Damion James instead)

Houston could shop Battier or Jeffries to CLE/TOR. Can't combine TEs, so sending each out for two $7M TEs (and the $4M TE already in hand) doesn't work. I also don't believe (could be wrong) that you can't send out two players and get back a single TE. Neither Battier or Jefferies holds much appeal to a dead end team, but one advantage the Rockets have is that CLE/TOR wouldn't be dealing within their conference (or division: CLE-CHI, NJN-TOR).
Rockets could also send one of the Knicks picks or a guy like Hill in a separate deal to make it happen. Jeffries and Hill to Toronto would make sense.
    Then the Rockets could offer:
Knicks pick(s), $7M TE, Battier, and Brooks for Anthony
    and $4M TE for Andersen

Again - Nuggets need to shave a good $10-$12M to get to/under the tax line. I think this is a pretty big deal for them. TE>>>>expiring deal

Man.. who would want Anthony Randolph.... that guy is overhyped and overrated.

Every year people say he's gonna be good... it's been what.. like 4 years????

Some very interesting scenarios, emjohn. I could see any one of them happening.

You got to admit, the possibility of getting Randolph or Gallinari is intriguing.

Eric, I agree with you. I'd kinda hate to do it but we could add Bud to the deal to Denver and I think that should sell it. Morey did accumulate the assets to move them for a better player down the line.
