I just don't see Melo in a Knicks jersey this season. Maybe if he waits till free agency, but I don't see us or anybody else trying to facilitate Melo to going to NY, unless it nets them Melo himself.

Really, just calling my shot but my reasoning...

Melo leaves and the Nuggets start the rebuilding process so why would they need 4 years of Birdman?

Morey made it obvious that if a good big man becomes available he would be interested.

Nuggets are looking to clear capspace in dealing Anthony and that TE would save them about 20 million long term.

Rox/Nuggets are already talking and I am sure his name has come up.

That is what I have been thinking was going to happen all along. Send one of our NY picks to Denver and get a good young player from NY. We could probably also unload Jeffries to NY in the process.

If we could get away with something like Jeffries, NY pick, TE for Randolph, Birdman, etc...while getting Melo to the Knicks, I think that would be ideal. If he doesn't want to re-sign here, at least we get something out of the picks before they are worthless.

Even if 2011 or 2012 have a deep talent pool, there is no guarantee Morey will net the player he wants.

Picks are risky, and they are worth a lot now. Might as well make full use of it.

Adding Chandler and Randolph won't make the rockets a contender or an interesting team. The team needs a superstar. Even the rockets couldn't get Melo this time, they still need to keep picks to wait for another chance. Maybe CP3 will be available in the middle of the season. Or, maybe they can move up during next draft...

Don't give up! If they do, it would seal the rockets' fate- a mediocre team. And, Morey would seal his fate as well - a mediocre GM!

Don't know how to post trade checker here but this works:

    Houston:
    Jeffries
    Hill
    Taylor
    picks
    for
    Randolph
    Andersen
    Azubuike

    Denver:
    Anthony
    for
    Curry
    Hill
    Taylor
    Turiaf
    picks

    NY:
    Curry
    Turiaf
    Randolph
    Azubuike
    for
    Anthony
    Jeffries

If we are not gonna get Melo, might as well get something.

Man, if we can somehow land Randolph for just a draft pick and TE, WOW. Losing out on Melo would not hurt at all.

    Brooks
    Martin
    Randolph
    Scola
    Yao

Damn, that is one scary lineup.

If the Rockets don't trade their pick for Randolph then the Knicks would be screwed again and we might have the best chance to land melo...

    This.

He's still too raw and is too hyped going into Free agency this summer. I would rather keep all assets including this years pick and just REBUILD.

    Yes folks, not contend. Rebuild.

I'm with you DD. Randolph for a pick and TE? Get it done! Randolph is younger and better than Hill!

Randolph is better served at the 4, but yes he can and has played the 3.

I would be ok with that as well. Im not a big Carmelo Anthony fan. The Birdman would add toughness and really help defensively.

Is anyone open to the idea of Gallinari for one of the 2012 picks. That would give Denver the draft pick they desire along with whatever other players the Knicks were moving anyway to facilitate the deal. Gallinari would do just fine at the SF for the Rox. Young, tall, athletic, and can shoot it.

I think he gets eaten up on defense at the 4. But we can always bring him off the bench and split minitues at the 3/4 spots while Shane starts at the 3.

I love the idea, but I don't think it's possible. He's a legit talent, plays Anthony's position, and is still on his rookie deal (i.e cheap). I think Denver would insist on Gallinari if they deal with the Knicks.

Think this through. There's no way we get in on a potential NY Denver trade by offering one of New York's picks to Denver in exchange for any of NY's players.

That draft pick goes from "good" to "awful" the second Melo steps on the court in a Knicks uniform. If Denver accepts one of our NY picks then it's in their best interest to ensure that NY CONTINUES to suck for the foreseeable future to maximize that pick's value.

Exactly, and then if Randolph blows up you are golden, if not you get to sign him cheaply under the new CBA, or you can flip him at this year's trade deadline for picks or another player.....

    What? Who is doing that?

What you are doing is helping your team by facilitating a trade. Trade exceptions are no good unless you actually use them.

And NY's draft picks are worthless if Melo is determined to go there, they will be a playoff team.....and you can buy lower first round picks outright for cash.

    Strike now while you can.....
