All of the reviews you guys gave were spot on. These guys still got it...and I would love to see them write some new material with the 70s/80s Van Halen mentality in mind. And...I've got to agree with UT...really like Stay Frost...although Big River definitely is a close second. Excellent effort from a band that I wouldn't have thought could produce anything like this album. My faith in humanity has been restored.

I've listened to the album at least a dozen times through and, wow, never expected it to be this good.

For DLR era comparison, it's at least 10 times better than the piece of turd that is "Diver Down".

I even think "tattoo" is decent after listening to it a number of times, though the lyrics are terrible.

Favorites are Beats Working, Big River, and That's The Trouble With Never.

I'm actually looking forward to hearing some of the new stuff live.

Not sure what to make of this. Glad the Houston show didn't get cancelled, but what about this "enhance the tour" excuse? Does that mean we will get crap un-enhanced version on Sunday?

Still looking forward to the show, but I've seen some YouTube videos from this tour and I don't have very high expectations....

Eddie looks and sounds great - which is a good thing - but DLR seems to be joking around too much and forgetting words like he's not really taking it seriously. Alex looks tired and bored and Wolfgang isn't Michael Anthony.

    Sunday should be very interesting...

DLR is one of the most distinguishing rock voices, the way he cuts through the melodic line in interesting ways, is what makes Van Halen, Van Halen. Obviously Eddie's guitar work is perfect for DLR's voice, and meld together.

Nothing like vintage Van Halen in the history of rock, ever.

When did Alex ever look anything but tired and bored? When was dlr taking things seriously? When was wolfgang ever.... Nevermind. You'll be fine. Unless you are thinking of them like 'what' described.

I saw Van Halen in 78 as the backup band to Black Sabbath (With Ozzy) in the old Sam Houston Coliseum. That show kicked ass. Van Halen was better than BS that night.

Saw Foreigner and Kool and the Gang on the same bill at a Convention last year. It was odd to say the least.

Not sure what's wrong with saying there's nothing like VH. Their debut was a game-changer.

That wasnt very hard to do at that point.

The guys in Sabbath admit that the drugs and the wear and tear of dealing with the touring and dealing with Ozzy combined to make that tour their worst one ever. In the meantime, a young and hungry Van Halen spanked them every night.

I'm not bothering with VH anymore, they wore out their welcome with me years ago.

    Anyone else go?

Pretty good show. I was pleasantly surprised. Besides DLR goofing around and forgetting to sing entire verses here and there, they sounded great. Wolfie surprised me nailing all the background vox and Alex DIDN'T look bored. His solo was kind of boring, but most drums solos are.

Eddie blew me away though. It was great seeing him happy, healthy and sober. He was truly on top of his game all night. Worth the ticket price just to see him.

My ears are still ringing, though. A LOT of high end in the mix for some reason. Kool and the Gang were AMAZING and had the perfect mix.

I went and this is my assessment of the show. The band was on fire, but I see why they cancelled those shows because Roth's voice is shot from being on the road 5months straight. I am pissed that Roth let this happen, but seeing Eddie play is worth the price of admission.

Was it better than the last reunion classics tour? I thought that classics tour show was a good show but it wasn't a great show. It didn't blow me away or anything.

I intentionally passed on this show in Dallas even though I did like some of the songs on the new album (albeit, not listening to any of them in last few months). It didn't help that it was scheduled mid-week.

Just curious if there was noticable improvement over their last tour?

The band was tighter, but Roth was way worse than last tour.

I went to the show, it was worth the admission for Eddie but Roth was pure garbage. I can forgive him for not being able to hit the notes but freaking remember the lyrics. He was pretty embarrassing in the amount if gaps and personally it took some of the fun out.

Then again he's been doing that since the 80's, probably why they have yet to release a classic van halen concert cd/DVD. They don't have any good stuff from Dave.

Sammy isn't as good but at least he gives a ****.

Eddie looks great, best he's looked in well over a decade probably.

I usually find Alex's drum solos more entertaining than average, but agree it was pretty boring this time.

Overall I had a good time but DLR tried hard to ruin it.
