I think Martin and his contract could be traded, If we start thinking 2012... I look at Martin the same way I look at Scola. Great players. Significantly flawed without a dominant C.
True. But a dominant C makes everyone better. Just look at Orlando lol. guys like ryan andersen, hedo turkoglu are scrubs everywhere else the fact that scola and martin has been able to produce what they've produced is pretty great. a dominant c would make them explode.
We don't have a dominant C coming unless we A. Clear cap room (Martin & Scola) B. Tank (Martin & Scola)

You don't trade Martin for 50 cents on the dollar right now, if you're planning for 2012. You have through next season (and maybe even the first part of the 2012 offseason) to trade him for closer to 100 or even 110 cents on the dollar. Or, Martin could be in their plans for 2012, since the free agents will want to come play with SOMEONE.

No one is disputing that we should get full value for him. If Dwight is the target, you might be better off with the cheaper, defensive Courtney Lee. (His best friend in the league) Paul or Dwight will not come to Houston unless they can come together, imo. Cap room wins, over a significantly flawed, injury prone SG, imo. If we strike out in 2012, that is dandy, because we have already been in tank mode for a year, and we have top draftpicks. I don't want to specifically trade Martin, but he is far from off the table, imo.
i don't want the rockets to trade with the t-wolves unless we get some LOVE in return (pun most definately intended).
uh, shawn bradley was a fantastic shot blocker and that's exactly what leading the league in shot blocks tells you. he may suck in other areas but that don't take away his shot blocking ability.
Of course if you got your dominant C you'd be cursing yourself for trading away KM and Scola. A decent defensive big like Chandler would be enough to make us a contender almost instantaneously, esp. since KM can carry an entire offense by himself at times.
i would rather not have the shot blocker on my team get in the fetal position when he's about to get posterized..but rather try to get a block or foul the player..
Speaking of cents on the dollar, what bad timing that the pieces most mentioned in a trade are all playing bad (AB, Hill, Bud). I include Bud in this not so much because he is playing bad, lately anyways, but because his flaws have been soooo exposed. Given your above comments concerning Martin, I cant help but believe that these guys value at the moment are all low. So the question becomes: Who is playing well that we want to move?
