Not to throw more salt in the wound but it was three times one pick for a guy(Turckan) who never played a single NBA game.

Ed O'Bannon was as big bust as there is. NCAA champ and player-of-the-year at my old school.

We were talking about him on campus back then as the next Scottie Pippen - only with better rebounding skills, outside shooting, and post game.

During his senior year, I remember getting into drunken arguments with Bulls' fans about who was the best basketball player on the planet.

I really hate having to talk about this again, but...
The funny thing is you could have rationalized picking Drew and Dickerson because Dickerson was a major contributor on a national championship team and Drew was a media darling due to his famous ncaa tourney shot for Valpo (playing for his dad no less). I'm assuming the Rockets' people were blinded by Bryce's storybook moments and Dickerson's benefit of playing with Mike Bibby. Turcsan was unforgivable, but was a star in Europe. At any rate, it was quite a disastrous draft and that has been well established.

I think if Kandiman gets his act together, he can still have a Joe Smith like career.

That's ok. If we don't pick those guys up, things change and we don't get Yao (which means no T-Mac).

In the end, not too many teams have 2 franchise players in their mid 20's, so I am satisfied with how things worked out.

Well I tell you, Tayshaun Prince would look mighty good in a Rockets uniform right now. But then again, maybe Orlando would have wanted him included in the T-mac trade also, so you never know.

Here are the pictorials I was talking about, I ended up being a bit more random with it, and going with a couple of differing philosophies just to make an entertaining piece:

    Here are the Busts

    And the Bargains

And, yes, I know about the Malone typo.

It's not Darko's fault the Pistons picked him over Melo or Wade. He may suck, but his failure (thus far) is largely on Dumars. It's not like Darko's game suddenly went in the toilet after the Pistons picked him. He's playing at the same level -- just the expectations have changed.

Behind every "bust" is a crappy or incompetent scout.
