Come on in, DudeWah, and say you are happy about this. The "horribly failed experiment" didn't happen.

Be a Rocket's fan first and not stuck in an anti-Smith. debate narrative. We won't say "I told you so" because none of us actually told the bbs this would happen, other than to say the signing was a no-brainer at the price. We are all just so freaking happy about he recent explosion of effectiveness.

    Cheer for it!

Smith is great when he's not jacking up shots. Seriously, if he could shoot very efficiently from the field then he would be a near max player. He's been very solid for us this season. Glad to see it paying off. I love those threes he makes in other team's arenas.

I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves with Josh Smith. His biggest problem has always been consistency.

I have been pleasantly surprised - knew we had to do it at a low rate, but big time concerned about chemistry.

Very happy to be incorrect on that account.

Like Morey said. In the tough West you accumulate as much talent as you can and worry about the rest later. Signing Josh Smith was a no brainer. The Rockets wanted him when he and Dwight were free agents but could not work out a sign and trade. Dwight and him are best friends. The stuff about him being a cancer or malcontent has been overblown. Was he really gonna come here and disrupt the team? No coach has anything bad to say about J Smoove. Once again too many people let the ignorant media shape their narrative instead of giving Josh Smith a chance. He played out of position in Detroit and was expected to be their number one option. That is not his fault he was given a role that does not fit him. And instead of waiting for SVG to explain why he waived Josh, everybody just assumed he was a malcontent. That has been proven otherwise. Good thing the Rockets don't listen to the media or fans.

DD, you're about the only person on here that's been willing to say "I was wrong about Josh Smith". Kudos to you.

Where are all the other (stupid) naysayers? Probably pretending they loved the move all along.

I don't know why people say Josh Smith is not a moneyball move. It has always been the analytics people who were propping him up when he was in Atlanta, calling him All-NBA in his prime. Moneyball is not just about shooting efficiency. It's just about underappreciated tools, and Josh Smith has a lot of them.

If you look at his stats year to year, he's ridiculously consistent. Not sure where this came from. His biggest problem has always been shot selection, and that has been (somewhat) rectified.

Pistons releasing Smith was a blessing for us. Glad we got him. I hope we re-sign him this summer.

OK since you are so smart explain to me what advanced stat that said he was good. The Detroit pistons were -10.4 when he was on the court and his RPM was -3.38. He was a pretty good defender with a -5% FG differential, but his overall impact to Detroit was negative.
