You do know he needed all those points, rebounds and assists to get his team a win on the road. You do know like 4 major rotation players are out and he has kept his team with striking distance of the 3 seed with him being the ONLY continuity on the team over the whole year. If you are going to diminish Lebron's rebounding advantage because he is a small forward (not that Kobe doesn't play SF often) than you should enhance Lebron's otherwise marginal (.05) advantage in steals, substantial (2.3) edge in assists, and major edge in a/to--areas typically guards strengths over forwards. Every objective measure says Lebron is better. He is better. But MVP doesn't always go to the best player. So if you want to argue Kobe deserves it because his team is better, the way Nash and Dirk got theirs, that argument can fly. Like I said if the Lakers win the West I have no problem if Kobe gets the award. But if they don't, and Lebron manages to carry his team to within 1 seed of where Kobes team is--it should go to Lebron.
Guys, just save your breath. Evidently Lebron's stats and actual results count for nothing. It's all based on 'but if Kobe was in the East, blah, blah, blah'. Oh wait, no, it's 'but if Kobe was on a team w/ less talent then he would also blah, blah, blah.' Lebron is 8th in assists in the league only because Mike Brown has no offensive plans! It makes perfect sense! Lousy offensive coaching means easier assists! There's a perfectly rational reason why every single one of Lebron's accomplishments are strictly a side effect from his circumstances. Put any other player at SF on the Cavs, in the Eastern conference, and it automatically bumps up your stats by 50%! And last year? Remember Lebron taking his team to the finals, including an upset against a all-around, heavily favored Detroit team. Who cares! Because single-handily taking a team to the finals is SOOOO easy in the NBA! Everyone can do it! And the only reason the Cavs beat Detroit is because Detroit got exposed! Right? I mean it can't be because Lebron is good, it's because Detroit is that bad! Just like how awful they've been playing this year! And if the Cavs take down the Celts or Pistons, or even both, it will only further prove that the Celts/Pistons are overrated again...it can't be because Lebron is actually one of, if not, the best players today.
you sound sarcastic, but you are actually right, KOBE>LBJ for the reasons u've just stated and exaggerated.
No exaggeration. You guys have convinced me. Lebron doesn't deserve any credit for his accomplishments. Everyone would put up those numbers in his position.
No, I'm serious. You brought up a great point here, which really convinced me: I can tell you watched the game like I did. The Cavs were down a few points, tied it up w/ 3-4 minutes left, and I'm sure you were thinking the same thing I was: 'Why the hell is Lebron still trying to score?' The score is tied and this no-talent hack is trying to add more points to his stats instead of trying to score points for his team! All the Lebron detractors who watched this game, just like all the other games you've seen him in, knows he does this all the time...I've watched them all too but I guess I didn't see it until now. Lebron is a fraud, filled w/ fake clutch moments.
exactly, he's bound to be clutch if no one else on the team even touches the ball during clutch times
Hrm. Kobe doesn't need to get stats like Lebron. He plainly has a better team. I'm sure Kobe could put up better numbers than that if he and Lebron switched places. But Lebron could probably take Lakers to the no.1 west seed this year too. If the entire offense has to run through you, then yes you will be putting up awesome numbers. Look at the Rockets last year. The offense ran through Yao and TMac. TMac does something else throw it into Yao for a bucket or double team. Now that we have a more rounded offense this year, their averages are down. It's not rocket science to figure this out. Basically it's kobe on a good team in a harder conference vs lebron on an average team in the east. It comes down to having a good record playing against 30 harder teams in the west. Putting down above average numbers. To putting down excellent numbers on an average team but playing 30 "overall" easier games. Head to head, 1v1, both on equally skilled teams, I'd take Kobe any day. He defense is bowen like when he feels like it. Lebron, not so much. Kobe could lockdown lebron given the opportunity in the playoffs.
fact of LBJ hogs the ball so much with such stats padding, and a decent supporting cast, they still barely edged the KNICKS and then get blown out in chicago by 20 pts, can either be because LBJ did not make the team better that he only cared abt his own stats, or because the KNICKS and BULLS r just that awesome
As if the lakers didnt lose to some crappy teams this season(see Bucks, Hawks, Nets etc.). So every time Kobe scored 40/50 points, he is clutch and heroics whereas Lebron wil be stats padding. Kobe's team won games because he makes his teammates better whereas Lebron's team won games because his teammates are decent! Everyone in this discussion arguing using facts and stats as backup whereas you are talking non sense without any backups. If you have nothing to debate is better you shut up and dont waste this site storage!
One thing I've noticed with Lebron is that you can shake him up and you can take his confidence. Kobe seems just as sure in the clutch when he is 5/25 from the field as he is when he is 15/25. There is no doubt and no hesitation in his mind and he can adapt to ANY coverage that is applied to him. The guy has 3 moves from anywhere inside 18 feet from the basket. The defense is always at his mercy because of that. Lebron is still more raw athleticism at this point and thus not as able to adapt. I see Lebron killing teams but look at what SA did to him in last year's Finals. They found a way to slow him down and he couldn't figure out how to adapt. Kobe can adapt. Lebron is not there YET.
or could it be the rest of his team was 20-57 from the floor(ie less than 40%) tonight? Na, that can't be. It involves logic which you do not use.
so now u r just saying rest of cleveland's team sucks? so yeah, following logic that certainly has no place in ur brain, when cleveland loses, it's the team to blame and never LBJ heh
Wrong. If lebron played like crap i'd call him on it, and he gets some blame as he scuffled to a 3-12 second half. But when he is 13-27 for 39 points, and the rest of his team is 20-57 from the floor(35%) why do you think they got blown out? He had 1 assist because they couldn't hit open shots. Not his fault, it isn't like he can't shoot for them. If lebron was the one shooting 35% and his role players were at 50% you might have a point, but that wasn't the case. Take any team and have everyone but 1 guy shoot 35% and see what happens. You won't win many games. But keep thinking he's only a "stat padder" who doesn't make teammates better, it only makes you look silly.
if his team has low fg%, and lebron just padds his stats, then maybe he should've created better for his team(as many claim that's why he's good), but apparently not, i am not saying he's only a stats padder, but partially he is, just like i am not trying to say he's a bad player, but he's not as good as he's hyped up to be
