Hey, so that's where KD works now...

I have to disagree with KD on this one. Kobe is still the man, but Lerbon will take the throne once Kobe is done.

I wonder why KD hasn't showed himself here lately.

every time lebron gets asked about the mvp, he concedes it to kobe. i wouldn't give the mvp to a guy who doesn't think he should get it.

I hate Kobe more than anyone in this forum.

But saying that Lebron is a more valuable player, much less without-a-doubt a more valuble player.......is faulty journalism and just plain incorrect.

He's a smart man. He knows his time will come, so why rush it?

kobe not getting an mvp this year will be a bigger injustice than steve nash having 2 and jason kidd having zero.

I can't believe we've gone three pages talking about MVPs and no one has brought up the real MVP of this league, Chris Paul.

If New Orleans can keep homecourt going into the playoffs it will be a travshamockery if he doesn't win it.

its gonna come down to whoever has a better record. i dont like the idea of kg getting it because he has 2 all stars beside him.

I'm not on board with the KG train either, for the reason you said, as well as the fact he plays in the JV league.

When it comes down to it, LeBron excels Kobe in every individual level than maybe shooting 3's but LeBron is a FAR more efficient player.

Other than that, Why is Chris Paul being overlooked?

MVP debates are always rough - too much depends on your definition.

    "Best Player on Best Team"
"Most Outstanding Player of the Season"
    "Best Player in the League"

In my view, it's the most outstanding player among the top teams, with an edge given to someone with a weaker supporting cast. In the playoffs with a losing record? Eliminated. Miss the playoffs with a winning record? Eliminated. You can get a win on off nights because your all-star teammate(s) can pick up the slack? Eliminated.

    IMO:
LeBron's the best in the game right now, all around, a hair above Kobe. But over a third of the league has a better record than the Cavs. He's got a crummy supporting cast, but that record still handicaps him as an MVP like it did Jordan in the 80s.

    My short list, in order:
    Kobe
    Chris Paul
    -------------
    Garnett
    LeBron
    Deron Williams
    Ginobili

It's called humility. Whether it's false or not is up for debate, but LeBron speaks of every other superstar as if they're better than he is. Doesn't mean that he shouldn't win awards over them.

I failed miserably to understand how is there anyone think LeBron James is a better player and more MVP-worthy than Kobe.

Lebron James is indeed a great player but even he himself knows the best player in the league is Kobe, at least for NOW. He is smarter than a lot of you guys.

He's averaging just about 30-8-8. Toss in a block and two steals a game.
Those aren't numbers you see often.

    Kobe's best statistical seasons were 30-5-6 and 35-5-5. This year, it's 28-5-6.

I'm not saying that LeBron is MVP over Kobe, but it shouldn't be hard to see why he's got people in his corner.

just look at the supporting cast, did LBJ make his teammates better? big-z, gooden, hughes all turned into scrubs after LBJ took over, while farmar, walton, vuljacic etc all became better players

Funny how people don't call Lebron a ball hog but Kobe was labeled that when he used to drop 30+ ppg. With Ben Wallace on their team now, Lebron's rebounds should go down. If it's still 8 rpg then he's a stat builder. I mean, they have a 7-3 center and an excellent rebounder in Wallace, Lebron is not needed to catch so many rebounds a game. This is why Kobe's ppg is down because he has scorers so he doesn't need to score so much.

Lakers is best in the West while Cavs has a worse record than Denver, a non playoff team in the West.

Okay, Z is like a million. Gooden has always been the same, which is inconsistent. And Hughes has always sucked ass unless he can dominate the ball. You absolutely cannot blame Lebron for that crappy ass supporting cast.

And those 3 Laker players aren't very good anyway.

That said, I think if you swapped Kobe and Lebron, the Cavs would be doing better and the Lakers would be around the same. (except if it were done before the Gasol trade, then they'd be worse)

Lebron is the best player in the league, but Kobe should be MVP this season if the Lakers finish with the best record in the West. The adjustment that Kobe made in his game (less shots, more passing) has IMO made the case for him to be the MVP. And Bryant deserves to have at least one MVP award before he finishes his career.

If Kobe didn't win the MVP 2 years ago when he was averaging 35.4 ppg and his team did as well as Lebron's team is doing now (in the West no less), then why should Lebron win the MVP this year? Lebron's Cavs are 34-26 in the EAST. IMO that would be pure hypocrisy on the NBA's part if Lebron wins. Obviously people have double standards in accordance to certain players in the NBA.

People are acting like it's the end of the world if Kobe ever won the MVP award. I would rather have KG win it this year just to show that there is no double standard in the NBA.
