Hes probably gonna get 20 mins at most and should score at least 8 a game. I wonder how well he's going to handle all that.
von was seeking his first big contract and he didn't get it from the NBA. i wish him well over there. hopefully he'll make a name for himself over there even more and eventually return. he has potential.
It's not fair to assess JT this year and compare his impact to Wafer's. Wafer had the luxury of playing with Yao, Artest, and for a short time Tmac. A lot of attention was on those guys which left the lanes wide open for Von to attack the basket. JT will not have that same luxury, and no one should be throwing him under the bus b/c he doesn't impact the game like Wafer did.
Heh, you would think that all these things you said would have kept him with the Rockets for a relatively cheap contract.
I like Von, but I think that is too much to pay for a guy that has only had one good year, and needs to mature mentally. Anything under $2m and I would have thought that was fair...probably settling in the 1.1-1.3m area. DD
wishful thinking well imagine wafer grow 3 inches with longer wing span, incredible pg like ball handling skills, soft touch around the basket, great court vision and an afro
He be JR Smith-xtra. Players like Von, JR Smith & Rider, Harold Minor, et al, are frustrating, because they have the tools, physically, to be complete players...allstar level players. Unfortunately something between their brains bodies short circuits and causes them to almost never actualize that potential. Something about seeing the ball go thru the net paralyzes their development.
Ehhhh whatever. Part of me really wanted to see Von retained but i'll get over it. We just better pray that any combination of Taylor, Chase or White can step in and immediately fill that bench spark role that he's leaving open. I'm very curious where the offense is going to come from this year. And not that Von with his inconsistent play and minutes was the answer to that question, but the bottom line was the guy could put the ball in the basket. Every good bench has a player like Wafer. Let's hope he's as replaceable as management thinks he is.
Oh well, Bob Sura's 3/4 year > Von Wafer's year. It'd take more all around play to replace Wafer's scoring production. Making up for it with extra passing and defense than just pure scoring. Not saying the next player wont or cant make baskets, but we're essentially asking the Wafer replacements to score 17 a game. I dont imagine many instances coming up of "if we only had Wafer". Its made a lot easier when the departed player leaves the country.
Honestly, if Chase can contribute 8ppg, Tmac comes back strong (which i FULLY expect) and Trevor has a good year, i don't think we'll miss Von. He was all points anyways. If JT has even a decent year, we'll be ok on guard production. My concern is in the paint.
Anything under $2 million a year would have been good with me and I would have preferred a deal that was 2-3 years.
