Geez...aren't you a little melodramatic. Wafer is getting more money than we could have paid him.

Awesome deal for wafer when it looked like he wasnn't gonna get jack in the nba. I would have loved to keep wafer if he was cheap but he is getting close to 4 mil per year after taxes and exchange rates. I think that number sounds right. An anyone verify?

There is about a 0% chance he averages that much. If he adjusts he will be a 13-15 ppg guy at best.

He could have been had fairly cheap in the NBA -- obviously the kid has some sort of attitude problem that no one really wanted to deal with.

Enjoy playing barn ball Von Wafer.

All good points DD. I really think most of his issues were indeed salary cap related more than perhaps issues with his professionalism.

As of this point I don't see JT having anywhere near the impact Wafer had with us. However, I'm still having hope for Chase.

On 2nd thought, Seven, you're right. Good point about being able to buy a pick(s) draft night. Oh well, good luck to Von.

Not a biggie but its not that they pay his taxes. But more of a not on American soil therefore he doesn't pay taxes to his home country. Its the same with oil drilling jobs in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and etc areas. Its the same for the military when on deployment. I used to love not having to pay taxes.

No, teams really didn't want Von Wafer -- that is why he didn't get paid and had to go play overseas.

I think these numbers are inflated.
If you take last season, I gotta add that half of the season Adelman did not know what line-up he can put on the court, not to speak of playing consistent bball. Then your no.1 scoring option went out of action after a huge drama and Ron's ankle twists and poor shooting which fully covered one third of the regular season. Then the transition after the Rafer Era and so on. It took a toll on the whole season. And we still made it to 53 wins.
Give the players a consistent season and we shall see.

Give 'some f#cking credit'tm where credit is due. I mean yeah JVG had a good share of healthy basketball seasons with Yao, TMac and Stevie Franchise.

What is happening to Sessions, and Iverson and David Lee then?

For some reason people are black and white on Von.....

There is no black and white in negotiations.....only shades of gray.

He got courted, he got a better offer overseas, he took it, end of story.

No one really wanted Von Wafer or he would be playing in the NBA.

    That is incorrect.

No one wanted to pay him $3.8 million a year...Morey offered him a deal in Houston - per his radio show, Von wanted more.

The Clippers talked with him as did NY, and probably a few others....

It is ok to be wrong Cheetah, believe me, I know !!

I am rooting for the guy, yet I am concerned that if he doesn't mature - game and attitude - before arriving 'Over There' he'll be treated by teammates as 'The Ugly American'.

When he returns to play in the NBA, and I believe it to be a certainty he shall aspire thereof, I wonder what kind of deal he'll be able to command? (Thinking of no American ballers who returned to find big [by NB standards] $$$ waiting for them.)

Go Von Hawk - slam bad and thank'y man.

The talks were never serious -- Von Wafer is not playing in the NBA because no one really wanted him.

Is offering the minimum really showing interest? :)

Morey did, Von didn't want to take the $$$ Morey offered.

Playing in the NBA is great unless you can make 4 times the money elsewhere then you take that....he would be stupid not to.

I think you are being obtuse Cheetah, nice try....

During JVG last season, he had hayes, howard, rafer, shane, head, as people helping tracy and Yao. In that season, yao missed 34 games and the team went 22-12 in those 34 games. That team avg 97 ppg. The next yr with scola, landry, and brooks, they scored 97 ppg again. What i'm trying to say is a lot of teams in the nfl run the west coast offense, but only a few can run it and be as effecients as the old 49ers,packers, and broncos under shanny. The system can be run into the ground and look great, but putting the ball in the basket isw another thing. The bulls post jordan ran the triangle, but they couldn't score nor be successful with it. Wafer could score and that was something this rockets team hasw had trouble doing since yao and tracy have been together. The can score when the 3's ae falling and over inflate the actual offense, but how many backdoor cuts, rubs, transitition point do the get from the actual offense? The final part of execution is finishing the basket and the rockets just lost one of the best they had last season. Like it or not, that's not that easy of a thing. Its over, good luck to him and the rockets must move on now.

Morey didn't want him and offered him a crappy contract -- all of Von Wafer's contact offers sucked so now he is playing barn ball with your other heroes.

I was stating the obvious with Yao and Tracy out for a while. Usually we would go after another superstar or borderline superstars who can fill the void scoringwise. You are right that we need a scorer. We don't really have one besides Aaron but its up to you to have some patience. I believe by tradeline or next season we will trade for one or sign one. Until then it is not necessary to have Wafer's scoring for a very very limited of time because I believe like DD said, either TMac will play or we will trade for a scorer. And next year we will probably sign another one.
