Oh, man. I want to marry a woman who speaks the same language Hayesfan does.

    Here is what I think.

Morey just don't think with Von's upside he is worth to keep for the future.

Von is an offensive plug, no doubt, but beyond that we see nothing. If we sign him, it is going to be at least 2 years contract and 2 to 3 mils a year.

Will von be patient enough to be a backup with unpredictable PT? can he co-exist with trevor on the starting lineup and not be a ball-stopper?

I think our current team is constructed for 2010 sweepstake. are we going to get one of the top players? probably not, but i am sure we are in a market for upcoming superstar.

You know you are approaching the NBA level when you steal budding young talent such as Childress, Nachbar, and Kleiza.

I love when Henry Abbott and I agree...

My question is... didn't the Lakers offer Trevor the same thing we did? Or did they never actually make the offer after they had a deal in the works with Ron?

IMO they did the same thing with Odom. Put forward an offer, then retract it. Money is one thing but I don't understand the Lakers not wanting to offer a long term contract beyond 2 or 3 years to Trev.
Signing Ron could be a reason.

Mediocre on the offensive end maybe because guys are still struggling with the offense. It took Sacramento 2 years to learn it. This is the 3rd year going into the season this year could be different.

The defense was always there. They even said it. Even though JVG left he stuck it in their heads DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE

They did. I do see Henry Abbott's point: they offered the MLE, which would have been a good deal, but they did choose to "let Ariza go" rather than pay what his agent demanded, which would not have been a good deal.

However, under Abbott's logic, the Lakers have only really become a "smart team" this offseason. Just look at their roster: Are Luke Walton and Sasha Vujacic essential players or should we be looking for the dumbasses that overpaid to retain them?

This is good for Von Wafer. Now he can be far far away from Sasha, the chump who shut him down.

Oh well, can't blame the guy. He just wants to jam, and he can jam all day in Greece.

I would bet there is a typo or a problem with this article. No way did a player with Von's experience and numbers get 5M a year, it was previously reported that he would get 5M for 2 years. I think thats closer to the truth.

Sorry that contract is worth 10M USD. 5.5M Euros net = 7.8M USD = 10M USD minus ~ 20% US taxes. Good for Von.

I think halva is more common than jam in Greece, but where is RocketScientist when we need him?

I guess he got an option to opt out after one year in case he'll return to the League

So what do the Wafer lovers here think is the reason that not a single NBA team gave him a decent offer?

A comparable offer would have been around 2 yrs, $10mm...which is probably 3 million more per season than he was being offered or deserved. That doesn't mean teams didn't offer him a couple of million per, which is definitely a "reasonable" offer

Good for Von for getting paid...and your attempt at trash talking failed ;)

Conclusion: The NBA should be worried because a FA who couldn't find a decent offer in the NBA took a larger contract to play in Europe.

No No just about the NBA making revenues as a whole. Not because of one player. These teams arent able to offer or throw away money like they used to. Teams are so afraid of being over the cap they are doing anything to keep under the cap. Check the Hornets etc, teams were never like this..
