I repeat: (1) Hope this trade blows up and (2) Melo finishes the season in Denver. I realize there is no chance for #2 but one can hope.

The reason the Nuggets can play hardball with the Nets is because the whole relevance of the Nets franchise is at stake with the trade. If it doesn't happen. their franchise will remain complete trash for a second season in-a-row. With the Knicks resurgence, it really makes them look bad and the new owner can't stand that.

The Nuggets are probably doing the right thing if they get what they want. As one man said, You don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate.

Hollinger said it best - we should call this "The Indecision".

The way Denver is running things right now like acircus. I believe these bozos. Dont know a good deal when they see one. They probably have two great deals right now? One from the Rockets being th second best deal and one from the Nets for Favors who they covet so much no less. (Not that those idiots see Patrick Patterson will be better than favors) Anyhow.

Rookie GM mistake. So your not happy with the standing offer so you are going to make a fake counter offer for a trade of LESS VALUE to call the bluff on New Jersey. New Jersey should have never changed their trade stance from Favors and two picks and just waiting till the deadline. Showing desperation will do this every time to greedy GM's with no sense of urgency.

I'm confused. I thought it was Denver that "leaked" the details of the deal in order to solicit more offers? Now they are accusing NJ of going public?

Anyway, the Nuggets management is looking more and more unprofessional by the day.

If I'm NJN, I call that BS bluff and dare them to take Eddy Curry. Ridiculous. Nuggets keep demanding the moon, and threaten to take the cow pie platter unless the Nets don't up the ante?

I'll say it again, I hope the Nuggets are cursed for decades for this.

...so who's running the show in Denver anyway? I was under the impression Stan Kroenke was unable to under the terms of his purchase of the Rams so his 30 yr old son was running the Nuggets and before Stan left he brought in a rookie GM in Masai Ujiri. So far this whole thing has been a mess and the fact the head of the Nuggets is incredibly green as well as the GM is just a disaster waiting to happen.

An ESPN columnist recently mentioned it's in the Nugget's best interest to wait to trade Melo to the Nets as Melo's presence on the Nets would make them a better team immediately and thus would make the pick they trade to get Melo worth less than if they waited to send him to NJ at the trade deadline. I can totally see that and it makes me wonder why the Nuggets tried to negotiate the trade so soon. There is still a little over a month before the trade deadline so what was the rush?

Of course now that it's all in the media and the local fans are tired of it and are booing Melo at games, you DO have a problem because your upsetting players and fans....just seems like the worst way to handle this. I guess you could argue the Nuggets would immediately start tanking with Melo out and maybe that is enough to offset how much better NJ would be but if you ask me the Nets without Melo for 3/4 of the season are going to have a better draft pick than the Nuggets without Melo/Billups the last half of the season.
