[/IMG] that's the only trade I think would make sense.. if the Kings are willing to trade Martin... there is a rumor out the Kings want a big man and they are interested in Dalembert.. Philly also gets two expiring deals in this trade
I"ll pass on Jermaine Oneal. I think they can do whole lot better than that around the trade deadline.
From CBSSPORTS, Ken Berger "Now, the situation appears to have reached a point of no return, despite McGrady's recent statements that he's happy in Houston and actually wants to re-sign with the Rockets when his $23 million contract expires July 1. "They showed he can play," the executive said. "That's all they needed to do." "If McGrady requests a trade, as expected, then there's no reason to continue the charade." http://ken-berger.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/11838893/19195732?source=rss_blogs_NBA
Tracy has played for 3 teams so far in his career. He has burned bridges at the last 2. Morey has kept us competitive while lacking half of the teams payroll. Morey looks like an up and coming GM whose statistical tactics are paying off in a big way. I just don't see anyone professionally or on print labeling DM a d******d anytime soon. As for Tracy... DHeads or not, this happens all the time in the NBA. Value is not totally determined by what a player can contribute on the court. Contract status, Global Recognizability, Community Activism, and leadership in the locker room are just a few other things that come to mind when determining the true value of a player. If I'm not mistaken, the greatest Rocket of all time was traded to Toronto when his value was on the decline. That d******d GM brought us 2 championships. Whatever you are smoking, can I hit it?
This is why TOFs never are reasonable. If Yao played in the preseason after injury, there are 2 possibilities at the start of the season. He will either get limited minutes per game from bench, or could play 35 minutes as a starter in the first game. Coach Adelman will decide how he plays and whether he could fit into the system in the preseason. I won't be surprised either if coach benched him all season to play 8 minutes per game. I believe in coach Adelman.
If McGrady needs more playing time why can't he play for the Vipers (D-league) for a while until he gets his "rhythm"?
I am just warning you. Do not expect much to change as far as projected wins, if Darryl Morey exchanges Tracy McGrady for players/picks. Carroll Dawson was a poor GM, and the championships were won in spite of his actions. If you are implying that I am a substance abuser, you are mistaken.
Might want to not label other posters. I am a Rockets fan. I want the team to win. In my opinion, McGrady gives you the best chance. Many will argue it's not much of a chance, but to me it's the best chance they have at their disposal right now. Look, I think Yao should get 15 mins when he comes back, and then increase his minutes. You know, like 95% of the players that come back from injuries/surgeries. This is all moot since it appears the real plan was just to show other GMs that he can at least move around the court. The Rockets didn't really care if he did well or not.
as far as trade possibilities that are somewhat realistic I think if we can land Anthony Randolph you go ahead and do it... I'd much rather watch Randolph develop than catch the J O'Neal show nightly
Gotta disagree with you in part. We won 2 because of his moves. We drafted Sammy to pair with Smith. We drafted Horry, and we plucked Elie from the scrap heap. Then he had the balls to trade Thorpe for Clyde and sign off with banishing Maxwell. Management's actions directly led to those 2 rings. However, he did misfire after the Barkley trade. We handed out bad contracts (Cato and Mo Taylor come to mind), and trying to build a team with Cat and Stevie was a doomed excercise. Bringing JVG to try to get the team to play tough, 94-era Rocket style defense was also a mistake (although not as huge as some would make it out to be). I have to say CD aced his fine-tuning job in the mid 90's as he picked up 2 rings and another trip to the WCF. However, he simply couldn't get the ship turned around when it came time to rebuild. Happens all the time in the NBA. I'll take a dozen years without a playoff series win and some really bad teams for those 2 rings. The 1995 run in particular will be hard for any Rockets squad to ever top, and Clutch City has CD to thank in part for that.
This is what the preseason is all about. I wanted to have Landry starting. Coach Adelman started hayes, and guess what, it works very fine. Coach and staff are doing wonderful job.
fixed. you realize you are arguing with people who never saw the championship teams play right? I disagree with the Barkley move, swept by the Sonics , then going to the WCF the next year, sounds like a good move to me. CD was a good GM. He also signed off on Daryl Morey being his successor.
Yet another opinion, I think some people are too close to the situation to see it objectively. I do believe the organization knows McGrady WANTS to play. I'm pretty sure they're satisfied with the work he's put into his comeback. I believe the organization knows McGrady wants to continue his career. I think they know McGrady prefers to try it in Houston. This is purely speculative observation - I think deep down McGrady knows it wont get much better with the next team, he just needs a little honeymoon period to extend his time. Its what it is - 12 months of hard rehab, just to be judged in a 50 minute audition. Might seem limiting, but if he'da behaved himself in previous years he'da been granted more time. Its not like McGrady's the new guy to Adelman, this is his 3rd year around him. Rockets feel McGrady's product still isnt good enough for their on-court product. They might feel it wont get much better from here. Its their opinion. Tough pill for McGrady to swallow, but he's gonna ramp up the sense of urgency. He's not going to take it sitting down cuz there's money to be made. Cant blame him. Eventually both sides will get what they want. Just not with each other.
