According to all these outside sources, T-mac has been done in Houston and about to be traded for a year. Yet he is still on the roster......amazing. Basically this is all speculation. I'm thankful that Morey isn't a knee-jerk GM...otherwise a stupid trade would have been made by now. Morey isn't the type to trade a player just to trade him.
this is where you and I will greatly differ. Adelman is the COACH of this team. It is job to try to put the players out there on the floor he believes will win. He has to to his job. Tracy McGrady is a PLAYER on this team whose job is to go out there and give it 100% both in practice and on the court AND to LISTEN to the COACH as to what his role on the team will be. Adelman's history has shown that he is a willing players' coach within reason as evidenced by the # of great and 'problematic' players he has coached in the past. Tracy McGrady has not shown the same willingness to the team. Adelman has given Tracy some minutes to play to bring him back slowly without affecting the team's chemistry and play...once again Adelman is the COACH he has to try to put the players out there he believe will win games. Right now this has nothing to do with Adelman having to come "halfway" to appease McGrady...It's McGrady that needs to come all the way and be willinging to the COACH. All this leaving because he isnt playing, announcing to the media about surgery or that he is going to return..none of that is helping the team in any sort of way or showing that he is willing to be a part of the team. Had Tracy stayed the course maybe it would be different in January and he would see his minutes rise as he gets into better basketball shape. Remember even Webber a former player under COACH Adelman has said that he made a mistake of rushing back too soon and playing too many minutes after microfracture surgery. Adelman does not want the same for McGrady. Tracy on the other hand is more concerned about his next contract (which is a very valid concern obviously) over the performance of the team. Had this team been 13-18 instead of 18-13 maybe the COACH would have played him more but the team is playing well and they are within the playoff race and that should not be tinkered with. see this is where you get it wrong...there shouldnt be a separation of McGrady and the team it should just be 'an ideal situation that puts the Houston Rockets in a position to succeed' Tracy created that separation he has to deal with it Rick Adelman, head COACH of the Houston Rockets, will deal with the Houston Rockets
The same way you judge it in two minutes or forty minutes, by their production. Is it really that difficult for you? I'm starting to worry about you. Go have your mom take your temperature.
“I don’t understand their plan,” one NBA coach said Sunday. “Why bring him back at all to play eight minutes? They should send him away because it’s obvious Rick doesn’t want him around.” I wonder who said that?
Not surprised. If this happens, and he gets essentially Marburyed......it is probably best for everyone. There will be some trade, and Tracy gets to resume his career and the Rockets move off in their own direction. Most people could see this coming. Let's just get it over with, whatever "IT" is... DD
I am pretty sure there will be a adjustment period when Yao and the Coach will have to WORK TOGETHER when Yao returns first. However, I am also pretty sure Yao will not go to public to demand more touches or style changes. Yao and the coach can and will talk to each other to make things work. TMac had lost respects from most of his teammates and coaching staff. He should be repairing the bridge, instead, he continues burning it. In some sense, he is forcing himself out of here. He is hurting both the organization and himself by doing this.
I find it unbelievable that any coach said this. The poster above got it right, and he deserves rep for the post. This is Adelman's team. He is the coach. He is the leader, and he has proven over his coaching career to be worthy of being the leader of a team. There should not be a discussion on what is good for Tracy; the only discussion that should be taking place is what is good for the TEAM. There is no I in team but in Tracy's world, there is a ME in team.
I would do that trade, No joke. Rashard is somewhat underrated on the defensive end since he's good at fronting. He's a solid 3 point shooter, and a good post player. Tmac? He has none of that anymore.
BOTTOM LINE IS THAT TMAC, AS MUCH AS I REALLY LIKE THE GUY, CAN NOT PLAY FOR THIS TEAM. 1. HE HAS BEEN BACK FOR ONLY 6 GAMES AND HE'S ALREADY UPSET ABOUT PLAYING TIME?? keep in mind, he came back from microfracture surgery months earlier than usual and we dont know what condition he is in. All the Rockets are trying to do is insure he doesnt re-injure himself again. 8 minutes is good for the first 10-15 games back.... break him in easy. 2. It doest take more than 8 minutes to see how he will fit in this team.. if it aint broke , dont fix it..... 3. DONT TRADE HIM FOR GARBAGE....... just let the contract expire and we can pick up more in the off season. I hate how people (ESPN) think we need more to go deep in this years playoffs. This year would be great if we make it to the playoffs.... not like we are aiming for the RING this year. Tmac, i love ya as a player, but NOT ON THIS TEAM ANYMORE. If it wasnt a contract year, he wouldnt care to play 1 min a game....
the only way tmac is traded is if we get allstar caliber player in return. i think tmac is goin to be kept and will come off the books this summer.
Probably a gm with common sense. Its like the rockets are being overly cautious as if there is something after this. I wouldve played him till his knee either got stronger or they appeared they were going out. Why should the rockets care if he's not going to be with the squad anyway?
Leeb, If you have a guy in your business that has put in his notice, would you play him, or would you put your trust in guys that are going to be here after two weeks? The team has moved on, if Tmac had a longer contract, I would bet they were more interested in taking the time to get him healthy. The contract, the injury, the rehab, and Tmac's attitude, have sealed his fate in Houston. Sometimes divorce is better for everyone. DD
I would love this trade. JO has the size that we need and it is also an expiring contract. I cannot see how this is not a win-win situation for us.
What's not to understand? Adelman said it was his idea to play McGrady those limited minutes for six games. He wanted to evaluate McGrady on the court before coming to any decision. It sounded like a sensible plan to me.
I would guess that the preference would be to acquire and asset(s) that will help you in the future. JO doesn't do that. His expiring contract wouldn't be of much use either based on our current cap status.
I would hate to see anyone get the Marbury treatment. Tracy would prolly come to the games as a fan. Please Morey, GET K-MART.
