So... Scola is our starter even after we trade him!?

Not sure that'd get it done.

Some of these trade proposals are funny. Like the Rockets have a trade override button they can hit to make sure a team accepts their offer.

Rockets fans really underestimate Houston's appeal to NBA players. A lot of them have homes in H-Town. Considering our team never sucks for that long either (I'm sure players know that), Houston is an attractive destination. NY, LA, and Chicago are the only really big markets. Houston is in that next tier below them.

Josh Smith is a good player but he's not a superstar. I don't think the Rockets would be instant contenders. The Hawks had a more talented team and couldn't win with him. At best, this puts the Rockets in the 4th-6th seed range.

The only way this type of deal should interest us is if Atlanta is simply looking to move him and his contract. All these proposals involving Scola and Martin are nonsense (especially Scola, considering the Hawks plan on sliding Horford over to the four).

Bottom line: the Hawks have maxed out as a team and their payroll is too bloated. Crawford is free agent, Marvin Williams is a worthless POS making $7-8M a year and Josh is a talented but flawed player making a lot of money. Clearly, some key decisions will need to be made here but I highly doubt that will result in some sort of salary dump.

In any event, I have little interest in Josh becoming a Rocket. As I mentioned earlier, I think he could flourish in a Shawn Marion type role where he's your 3rd or 4th best player and his job is primarily to collect loose buckets, boards, etc -- and get garbage points. Unfortunately, he doesn't really have that type of mentality. He happens to think he's a lot better than he actually is so I doubt he would embrace this type of role.

    Please???!!

Can you please come out of the clouds of ignorance!! Chuck Hayes is not a starter in this league. Only for the rockets. Please let it go! We need a center above 6'6. The only team that wants him is us. Thats not a good sign. Cut him, cut Yao and end this curse once and for all.

eh.....always struck me as one of those players with good stats but will never be a winner. Especially if he the number 1 or 2 option.

i think the celtics and heat would sign chuck immeduiately if the rockets choose to let him go. i can see, chuck helping both of them teams instantly off the bench.

For all his talent and athleticism, I've seen Josh just quit out there....discipline and effort are non negotiable in my book. Combine that with the cap flexibility we lose here and I vote a resounding NO!

    *Yawn*

Other teams have better offers than that.

Scola is a good player, but the Hawks do not need any pieces we have. The one player that would really want from us, may not even suit up again.

If we lose Scola, and gain Josh Smith. We gain a good help defender and explosive open court dunker, and gain athleticism points. Though, we will lose a good post player.

I doubt we will be much better team, especially with Patterson and Hayes in the starting rotation and not true post player.

We are going to need a big body and someone to add, with minor substraction.

Here is my feelings, the rockets don't have a player as dynamic as smith on their, so its more about what do the hawks want in return. I'm not saying he's a franchise player, but he is a game changer on the court and that's something the rockets don't have. It won't be a salary dump for atlanta because they know it also. Also, the rockets must still keep an eye on the upcoming free agent class, especially howard. I think the rockets should let atlanta pick off the roster and negotiate backwards. The rockets don't have good enough players on the team to be deemed untouchable.

Please stop spreading your r****ded "facts" like "the only team that wants him is us". Plenty of teams would love to have him.

He did just anchor the 6th best starting lineup in the NBA but I'm sure that doesn't matter in your little fantasy world.

Seriously, none of the 4 teams really have much to offer. Real talk...

Boston won't deal any of the big 4. NJ has Lopez, but would they run the risk of doing THAT without any big man....and they lose their best trade chip when to comes to a possibility of trading for Howard before the deadline. Rockets trade chips are being discussed in here, and the Magic have a bunch of ****ty contracts and they will NOT deal Howard for just JR.

J-Smoove is going to have to name more teams, because the odds of him going to any one of these 4 are slim.

@DraftExpress I'm told that if the prospect Milwaukee covets (I suspect Valanciunas) isn't available at 10, they will trade the pick to Houston for 14+23.

I think Adelman could have done a lot with Smith, assuming he brought it to practice. McHale? I still have no idea how that's all going to play out. Have we hired an assistant yet?

I'm not sure if 4 spots is enough in a "weak" draft to warrant the 23rd pick. I would want to keep the pick if it comes down to this.
