Would be a heck of a deal if it went down. I really like Haywood as a solid post-player to backup Yao next year and even this year he could help us win a few more games. Butler is an interesting player in that he put up some very nice numbers for a few years and then naturally dropped off when the Wizards were terrible. I think a change of scenery would benefit both players for us.
Also, if this deal goes down, Morey would have some time to try to deal one of the Battriza wings too. DD
WOW, that's the first post I've seen from you in weeks...I was starting to get worried. This is a nice trade, not out of the park, but nice. We get a scorer and a good C...how about Morey squeezing a draft pick outta there somewhere, I know he could do it!
Thing is, its low risk type of move and will actually help the team make the playofs. Next year, haywood will probably leave because why would he want to back up yao when someone will make him a starter? I've always like butler as a player. He's a good defender, good passer, normally a good effecient scorer also, but has been nicked a little. He's a tough guy, skilled, and plays hard. I like iggy more because of his age and such, but this is cool because now the rockets can get a big and a guy that can create his own shot. Its going to suck for chase because his time will become gone and shane probably goes to the bench where he belongs. I will be surprised if scola isn't in the deal somehow.
LOL true about DaDakota, but plenty of posters were drooling over Bud's potential and were ready to hand over a starting spot to him. Now after a string of subpar performances I'm seeing more "If we only give up Chase, then it's a good deal" posts. Funny what a losing streak can do.
From your words to the trading gods ears, I would do back flips if the rockets could pull that off. But it seems like its a pipe dream in aquiring Butler, Haywood and Foye for just Tracy's contract alone. Morey would be hands down the GM of the year if he could get that deal done.
He hates Butler. He thinks he's over the hill and was trying to defend the Cap killer that was the Iggy & Dalembert deal.
I'm with you DD...that's why I really want this deal be done ASAP so that there would be enough time for follow up deals..
I would have always traded CBud.....whatever makes the team better, I love the guy but if we get better assets, then fine. I would trade anyone, and yes, it is a "What have you done for me lately" game, that is what team building and company building is all about. There is no loyalty, it is all about making the team better. Stop being so whiny and shave that caterpillar on your lip, son. DD
Why are people so enamored with the whole 2/3 argument? Ariza and battier not being a 2 has 0 to do with size or actual position name in jest. The problem with both is neither can create a good shot. It doesn't matter if you play, the 2,3,4,5,6,7, or whatever position, if 2 guys basically playing the same position can't create a shot, thats a problem.
right...they can't create a good shot and one has to assume the role of a shooting guard Butler is better suited
