If this deal includes Budinger, not good. Give them Taylor or Dorsey or any of the other scrubs.

Haywood is the key to this deal because, once re-signed, he allows Yao to play 20-24 minutes next year. Haywood is only 30 -- young for a center -- so he and Yao will fit for years to come.

My point made clear that no one here has actually SEEN Butler play. He's been the most effecient 20 point guy since arriving to Washington from LA.

Very good trade, but this means that we'll have to either shell out the other player(s) or draft pick to the Wizards to complete the trade. I hope its not one of our important rotational players, unfortunately I have a feeling JT will be added to the deal.

Good trade, there's a reason Morey has been after Butler for the past 3 years, and you guys will soon see why.

Agree 1000% about getting Haywood, its a huge key to this deal and he would really help extend Yao's career.

If you read the latest articles on the Knicks... Walsh has resigned to the fact that they're not going to be able to clear more 2010 salary. Any deal would be expiring for expiring.

Rox, thats what concerns me more than anything. Cuban may be the fly in the ointment or the monkey in the wrench for the rockets at the deadline.

McGrady has to be the most specuated trade item ever. I'm sick of it!

I actually like this deal, because it not only gives the Rockets a couple of players who are actually ready to contribute to a playoff push, but it also gives flexability. Yes Haywood's contract is an expiring one, but if he doesn't work out here, or doesn't want to be Yao's back-up, then he won't have to whine and complain.....he can just sign elswhere. DO IT ALREADY!

Cuban is trying to get Butler for Howard's expiring. If Washington can get expirings and get rid of another contract along with Butler's deal, then that deal trumps Howard. So, I'm suggesting they throw in Randy Foye with Butler and Haywood. We send McGrady to NY. NY sends out Harrington ($10 million) and Hughes ($13 million) to Washington, or instead of Hughes, NY sends Darko ($7.5 million) and Robinson ($4 million) to Washington, Washington sends out Butler, Haywood, and Foye to Houston.

great deal as long as we don't trade our 1st round pick. If sending Bud is all that's needed to seal it, I'm o.k. with that.

Decent trade if we're not giving up anything besides Mcgrady and trash...But we still need to make another move to be title contenders....

Agree, I imagine Morey will push for Jefferies to be sent to Washington and we'll probably send are #1 pick to Washington to close the deal. Butler will be a very nice upgrade at the wing and Haywood is going to bring a post presense we really need. Adding two key pieces while giving up nothing of our core would be an incredible job by Morey and set this team up for a nice 2nd half run. Ultimatly I think the deal will be...

    Rox get Butler/Haywood/Mobley

    Knicks get TMAC

    Wiz get Harrington/Budinger

Gets us what we need while only losing Budinger, would increase our LT amoung a bit but net us two key pieces. Knicks get their man to make a run at the playoffs. Wiz get a young player and under the LT saving them about 8 million I believe.

I think if its Harrington and Mobley to Wiz, McGrady to NYK, and Houston gets Butler and Heywood then everybody could get what they want. NY gets a name player upgrade, Wiz gets cap relief, and Houston gets an expiring and a decent guard without giving up assets. Dunno if that would work out though.

I agree! IF were just giving up T-mac and getting haywood and Butler i would do that in a heartbeat because T-mac isn't playing anyway

Huh, it seems a lot of people here have soured on Budinger recently. A couple of months ago, most posters wouldn't have dreamed of trading him.

Most realistic rumor yet, just because it's not some crazy over the top scenario.

Capologists, I know as is, the salaries don't match, but going off what we have here, the framework of the deal, how much is Haywood's expiring? And with Butler on board for another year, do we have enough to retain Scola/Lowry just with Haywood's expiring? For this deal to go down, I think we have to give up somebody in our core..

We are dumb if we give up a young core player like Chase or a first.
