yeah, keep scola and we don't need mobley's contract, i mean we're trying to get talent for expirings, getting expirings for expirings right now isn't the right thing to do.
This thread is 30 pages, so I don't know if this article has been posted. Its basically the same as yahoo's but it has a little info that yahoo might of left out. If this been posted my bad. McGrady's escape window opens Posted on: February 10, 2010 6:32 pm Nobody wants to go to New York right now, considering the weather. But if talks progress on a three-team trade proposal involving the Knicks, Rockets, and Wizards, Tracy McGrady might be on his way to the Big Apple by the time the snow is cleaned up. Though sources cautioned that no deal has been finalized, two people with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the teams have discussed a swap that would send McGrady to New York, Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood to Houston, and Al Harrington to the Wizards. Other pieces would have to be involved, but those are the main ones. The holdup, according to one of the sources, is indecision on the part of the Rockets and Knicks to sign off on the proposal. The second person familiar with the scenario characterized it as one of many discussions the Wizards are actively engaged in as they try to clean house in the wake of Gilbert Arenas' season-wrecking firearms suspension. Among those discussions, other sources say, involve Butler going to Dallas in an exchange that almost certainly would include Josh Howard. If the Mavs are able to follow through on their desire to trade Howard, they essentially must do so before the Feb. 18 trade deadline. Howard has a team option at $11.8 million for the 2010-11 season, and as such couldn't be traded after the season unless the Mavs picked up the option -- which would guarantee Howard's contract for next season. As far as McGrady, what would the Knicks' motivation be to import an aging star coming off microfracture surgery -- one who has played all of six games this season? Thus, the hangup. Teams have balked at the Knicks' efforts to divest themselves of Jared Jeffries and Eddy Curry, both of whom are hampering New York's plan to clear further cap space for its free-agent shopping spree this coming summer. Moving Harrington's expiring contract (and another piece to make the trade work under CBA guidelines) and taking on McGrady's $23 million expiring deal wouldn't dramatically improve the Knicks' cap position for 2010-11. The motivation, therefore, would be hoping that McGrady has enough left to help push the Knicks back into the playoff picture. As of Wednesday, New York was 6 1-2 games out of the eighth spot. Newsday reported Wednesday that Knicks president Donnie Walsh has visited Chicago seeking an answer to that question. Since the Rockets banished him in December, McGrady has been splitting time between Houston and Chicago, where he's worked out with personal trainer Tim Grover at the Attack Athletics gym. Walsh, according to Newsday, could be planning another trip. What he sees could be the tipping point in what would be one of the most significant deals to occur before the deadline. Link I think the Rockets aren't signing off on it cause either Washington wants a draft pick or one of our core players.
No, johnson will be high chance to stay at Hawk and we have less than 10M cap room for free agent even TMac contract expire.
you know, harrington is a good player. he can score, i don't know why he's been traded so much. i wouldn't mind some kind of a deal where we can get harrington, haywood, and butler for mac.
"Yet, the Rockets have been unwilling to let teams interested in trading for McGrady stop by the gymnasium and monitor his progress" Explains why were getting such bad offers, teams wouldn't be asking for throw-ins to sweeten the deal if they knew atleast were t-mac stood as a player
we need to sign landry, lowry, brooks, scola, budinger to extensions. therefore, the chances of having enough money for a legit superstar is nip, zilch, zero. that's why this trade better land us a player who can score. we need scorers!

Here you go. It's the same article but from a different site. Nothing new in the article though. Knicks interested in exiled Tracy McGrady By Alan Hahn Newsday (MCT) Donnie Walsh is not ready to pull the plug on the season. In fact, according to multiple sources, the Knicks' president is working to make an aggressive play to acquire exiled Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady before next Thursday's trade deadline. Newsday has reported that Walsh went to see McGrady's progress as he works out with a personal trainer in Chicago and, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, Walsh was mulling another visit as the deadline neared. A source told Newsday on Wednesday that Walsh was working to find a third team to step in and help him execute a trade that would involve multiple players. With all of his roster spots filled, Walsh cannot take on two-for-one trades unless there is a third team that can acquire the extra player. It was not known if this deal involved McGrady or if it was a separate situation. Walsh is also believed to be seeking a point guard at the deadline, with Milwaukee's Luke Ridnour, who is being shopped by the Bucks, a strong possibility. Yahoo! Sports reported the Knicks, Rockets and Wizards had discussions about a three-team deal that would send McGrady to the Knicks, who are owned by Cablevision, which also owns Newsday, with Al Harrington going to Washington and Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood going to Houston. The Washington Post confirmed the talks took place, but added it "doesn't have legs right now." ESPN.com listed the Knicks among five teams involved in McGrady talks, along with the Wizards, Bulls, 76ers and Suns. McGrady, 30, is a low-risk gamble for the Knicks because the seven-time All-Star is in the final year of his contract, which will pay him $23 million this season. The Knicks are believed to be his most ideal scenario because it would allow him the opportunity to dominate the ball and showcase himself before he hits free agency this summer. The Knicks (19-32), who are six games out of a playoff spot, would hope to catch lightning in a bottle. ___ http://www.victoriaadvocate.com/new...icks-mcgradynd-_-sports-350-words/?sports&nba
No, it isn't. The executives comment suggests otherwise. The Rockets aren't allowing "casual sittings". I'm guessing if teams are interested, book a viewing, and the Rockets will setup a proper workout/showcase. No randoms off the street allowed in.
Where'd you grab this from? There's another thread right here in the forum saying Donnie Walsh watched T-Mac workout recently. And how can the Rockets prevent someone else from watching T-Mac at Tim Grover's place? Tim Grover himself invited teams down to his gym to watch T-Mac.
Don't know if this has been posted: "Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said the team's ability to remain in the chase for a playoff spot this season might impact decision making but that the primary goals are more long-term. “If we were on pace, like everyone expected, to win 30-something games, that would have changed where we look at ourselves,” Morey said. “Where we are definitely impacts things. “We're hoping to help this season if we can. Our main goal is still to position ourselves to be a title contender sometime in the future. If it takes multiple steps going into next year, we'll do that.” Houston Chronicle
Ok, but it looked like the Rockets didn't care about McGrady and didn't want any part of him. So why would they care about those meetings. It is about Tracy and other teams, who want to see if he can play or not. It can mean only better offers for Houston.
I'm confused by this as well ... I know several teams have had scouts in to see T-Mac, yet maybe the Rockets are limiting the number of times or how much they can do with him? I'll have to poke around on that...
