There could be friendly ties between Cuban and Morey i think i seen a video of a conference some where on here.
I like this deal, upgrade two positions by a pretty fair margin. Would make us Playoff locks and I wouldn't put it past this team to win a series.
Question? Anthony Randolph 1st round pick #14. When GS said he was available how many teams inquired? How big was that story? If We put Chase Budinger on the block how many teams would be inquiring and would they trade a 1st rounder for him?
Love the deal for the Rockets. I'm sure we will have to part with either: a. 1st round draft pick b. Chase Budinger
pretty much the same trade being discussed except for the landry/jamson swap. the real question is: would the rockets and wizards go for that? i think the wizards go for it since it saves them money and gives them a really nice young replacement. but would the rockets be willing to take on so much future salary?
Sorry if it has been posted already but... http://voices.washingtonpost.com/wi...king-on-a-three-tea.html?wprss=wizardsinsider The dreaded "nothing is imminent" shows its ugly head lol
It's a difficult situation. One instance, you'd be giving up a rookie with a very good future coming ahead (C-Bud) vs. a draft pick (that could range from #11 to #14, if we don't make the playoffs or #15 - #24, if we make the playoffs win or lose a series). This isn't one of the strongest drafts in recent memory, I'm inclined to let Washington have our first pick, this year (nothing beyond it, though) without any other players involved, if we still have a shot at making the elite 8 in the West. We're only a game or two, outside of the 8th spot and a few more games away from a possible first round home court, especially if the team reaches 50 or more wins...which is still possible. Would it be worth tanking for a player who is not even marginal enough to put Ariza or Battier on the bench or even be a better player than C-Bud? Very hard to say. But given, that we'll receive Butler, Haywood, and another player, you can pretty much say that the team has a great shot at the playoffs given their current standings. Chase, if given starter, minutes (per 36), is projected to score about 15 ppg. Which is a pretty reliable starter, and the guy is good shooter and very athletic. http://www.nbadraft.net/2010mock_draft
Jamison is better than Landry. That much is clear. You think we're committing too much money for next year, or do you think the Wizards wouldn't go for it?
Also Smoothie, alot depends on how much a team values that pick based on the talent level in this upcoming draft (which by the way is suppose to very good). Having a mid first round pick also gives Morey the ability to package that pick and move up to get that player that the rockets really want.
there is definitely talent to be found late in the draft. DM has proven that time and again here. i always have faith in his draft choices. however, for every one of those players listed, there are 10 that became busts. plus the guaranteed contract... you're the guy to ask about this: what % of mid first round picks become better than chase is right now? if its more than 50% i'd trade chase. if its 50/50 or worse, then i'd keep chase.
Butler/Jamison adds 22 million, essentially replacing McGrady's money. The Rockets probably wouldn't be able to add a free agent in the offseason, unless they make more moves (e.g. trading Battier/Scola for an expiring). But even if they did nothing else, this is a pretty good lineup to me: PG: Brooks, Lowry SG/SF: Butler, Ariza, Battier, Budinger PF: Jamison, Scola, Hayes C: Yao, Haywood, Andersen
But do you want to be paying a 35-year-old $15M in 2011-12? I think the Rockets would rather re-sign Scola (who you would obviously lose to free agency if you added Jamison) and Landry for reasonable long-term deals and go with that combo, unless a player the caliber of Chris Bosh become available. Not to mention the luxury tax hell that deal would likely create for Les.
i think we are both leaning towards offering the pick before chase... but when i started this argument i did mention that the pick would be lotto protected. i would not trade an unprotected pick before chase.
Antawn still has two more years after this year. Is it really worth it to commit this much money? What I like about the current trade being talked about is that we would have possible cap relief if we needed to rebuild after next season. We don't know how Yao will be after he comes back from surgery. He might be the same old Yao or he might now. At least if he isn't playing well anymore, Battier's, Butler's and Yao's contract would be up. Those would be valuable assets towards rebuilding the Rockets for future years, if we are forced to head in that direction. I don't like Jamison here because incase all this works out we are stuck with his big salary for two more years. Plus he is not getting any younger and who knows when he might start declining (even though his game doesn't rely on athleticism too much).
