lol!! Chase a Big trade chip before the draft? Please, don't be silly. His ceiling and comparisons have been Brent Berry. A role player. You sell high while you can and some fans are as high as they can get.
agreed! except for the part about the first round pick. i would rather part with the pick because i believe chase has greater value (lotto protected of course). now, if the wizards dont want the first round pick, but demand chase instead, then you do it to get butler. butler for chase is an upgrade of course.
Walsh Goes To See T-Mac Workout Knicks' president Donnie Walsh has gone to watch Tracy McGrady workout, and might go see him again before the February 18 trade deadline. The Knicks are reportedly involved in discussions with the Rockets and Wizards about a three-way deal that would bring McGrady to New York. http://twitter.com/alanhahn/
carlos boozer was a second round pick... doesn't mean that will always be his value. a draft picks value is determined by the number of the pick only before the draft. after the draft they are not draft picks anymore, they are players. their value is judged not by where they were drafted but how thy perform. chase has proven that he is worth a mid first round pick. will our 2010 first round pick be as productive? who knows? it's a gamble that's probalby not worth taking when you already have a known commodity. might as well let washington take the gamble. plus, i wouldn't be so sure you get someone better than chase in the 15-20 range. the best you can hope for there is for the guy to crack the rotation which chase has done. occasionally you get a surprise talent, but its rare. more often you get a bust.
The answer is right here folks. T-mac will charm his way into Walsh and D'Antonie's hearts and make THEM sweeten the pot for T-mac.
Nice post. Very insightful. You're probably right, he hasn't proven anything this season. Here's the definition of commodity... A commodity is some good for which there is demand, but which is supplied without qualitative differentiation across a market. I though you might have been stumped when you came across that word, so I defined it for you and now you can finish your reading...you're welcome.
Only if the Mavs don't c**k-block us. Which they seem determined to do at every turn. We go after Kevin Martin--they go after Kevin Martin. We go after Iguodala--they go after Iguodala. We go after Haywood and Butler....
Considering McGrady's trade value, this is a good deal. However, keep the overall picture in mind. All this trade does is upgrade our role players, which we have plenty of to begin with.
How's about: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yk3lc3t Rockets gets: Butler, Haywood, Jamison Knicks get: McGrady Wizards get: Carl Landry, Al Harrington, Darko Milicic Would the Knicks and Wizards go for it?
i wouldnt call caron butler a role player. he may not be an all star, but he is a go-to-guy. also, haywood is a role player, but he gives us something we don't have and desperately need. overall, since we get nothing from tmac this would be a big win.
Whats silly is you thinking we're going to pick up a superstar in the mid first round of this draft. Brent Berry was a very good player for many years, a very good role player. I haven't even started smoking today.
I'd be for this trade but LeBron would stick his hand up ferry's *** and make him trade his children before we get Jamison.
Again, the Wizards have to WANT to make this trade in order for it to happen. The Rockets are essentially adding two MAJOR contributors for this season (Butler and Haywood) for nothing (McGrady), and adding a major player to play the same position as Budinger. The Rockets have to give up SOMETHING, and Budinger is the logical choice. And as far as there being no star players being drafted outside the top 10 in a long time (and by "star", I mean players who are better than most people realistically think Budinger will ever become): 2002: Tayshawn Prince (#23), Carlos Boozer (#34), Luis Scola (#55) 2003: David West (#18), Leandro Barbosa (#28), Josh Howard (#29), Mo Williams (#47) 2004: Al Jefferson (#15), Josh Smith (#17), Kevin Martin (#26) 2005: Danny Granger (#17), David Lee (#30), Monta Ellis (#40) 2006: Rajon Rondo (#21), Paul Millsap (#47) Most of these players have been All-Stars or may be able to make an All-Star team one day. Also, the following players drafted after the top 10 recently have "star" potential: 2007: Thaddeus Young (#12), Rudy Fernandez (#24), Aaron Brooks (#26), Carl Landry (#31) 2008: Jerryd Bayless (#11), Anthony Randolph (#14), Maurreese Speights (#16), Courtney Lee (#22), Nicolas Batum (#25), Donte Greene (#28) 2009: Earl Clark (#14), Jrue Holiday (#17), Rodrigue Beaubois (#25) So . . . care to re-think your statement?
