Its amazing how caught up in names you people are: Butler SF : 16.9 pts, 6.7rebs, 2.3 asts Iggy SG : 17.3 pts, 6.9, 5.7 asts Now, add in the fact Iggy is overpaid and will continue to be paid for the next 4 years vs. handing flexibility to morey with a solid player w/ an expiring contract.
Haywood will not have a lot of options. Consider how many high dollar free agents and how man bargain basement free agents there will be. Then consider that we would hold his bird rights -- which allows us to outbid competitors with money and years -- without the cap restrictions faced by other teams. Considering Yao's condition, IMO the Rockets would offer him a pay raise -- not a cut. Also, he could easily see that he would play starter minutes on a marginal contender. (Of course, we would be a snarling, big time contender when Hayes and Battier move to the bench or away for younger, taller, more athletic assets. Also, I forgot that next year Butler and Battier will be expirings totalling roughly $18M.
If we can somehow get Mike Miller in this deal it would be great; the guy is shooting over 50% for 3s this season, we need a SG like that for our team. Its a long shot since he is making $10mil so its hard to make the salary work.
it's a place where he can get a lot of minutes and shots. i dont see how it can be any worse than staying in NY. plus he's a free agent this summer... he doesn't have to stay there. this might be a great opportunity for him to raise his stock as a free agent this summer. i'm not so sure that nate would reject this trade. even if nate's not included, i really dont want to part with chase. i'd sooner part with ariza and his contract, but washington wouldnt take it. the rockets have enough young assets to give up other than chase. dorsey, JT, llull, lotto protected first round pick, second round pick, cash. i think there is enough there to make something work without losing chase.
Wow, you can't let go of Bosh? Dude, if he stays in Toronto, maybe you should join the Toronto boards. He's not coming here.
I have a major man-crush on Miller and would love for him to be here but I believe we will still have an MLE even with Butler's contract so that should be their #1 target this offseason.
