McGrady has never had to earn his minutes on the practice floor. And doing so in the middle of the season is especially difficult, because practice time is so sporadic and rotations have already been set. He feels time is running out, and he needs to get out on the court to prove to others he's still got it.

The Rockets response: "Tough. We wanted you to play last year and you gave us a difficult time about it. So this year, we're treating you like you're nothing. Like you didn't carry us for years when we put a bunch of 1-dimensional offensive players around you. Like you never had to play injured when Yao went down. Like we don't owe you anything."

I know I'm in the minority, but I feel bad for him.

He is getting $23 million, I don't have an ounce of pity for someone that has to sleep in the bed they made.

Maybe if Tmac would have signed a smaller contract like Tim Duncan did, the team could have put better pieces around him....eh?

Tough love is a b****, he wants to play, he has to earn it....he is capable...well at least below the ears he is.......

The sooner he is gone the better.

do you know how ludicrous this sounds? tracy signed that contract when he was still a superstar. so if you expect him to play at a superstar level after multiple surgeries, then i guess he'll never play for another team again if you based on money should equal performance.

look, if tracy is not better than shane or trevor, it's time for him to shut it down and retire. point blank.

And that's pretty much what this is about, isn't it?

    Very disappointing.

He can't beat them out right now.......because of his injury...so why should the organization put him on the floor when he is not one of the top wings on the team?

tracy was completely at fault last year. and now the rockets are retaliating. that's life. it all comes back to tracy though. it's understandable if the organization feels this way. i just way they would let tracy know a definitive answer so he can move on with it (instead of generating more drama).

no need to put on a front in the public eyes.

    Not really....

I applaud the organiztion for taking a hard line stance, they are basically putting up standards for all to abide by.....you want to play, you earn the time on the practice court.

If Tmac was busting everyone in practice, Adelman would be playing him, but he isn't....so he sits.

Sometimes guys need a wake up call, Tmac has been hitting the snooze button far too long, he needs to face the music....and get busy working.....if he wants to play.

They said they have no desire to play him, but I am 100% a realist, and know things can change.

If Tracy shut his TRAP, and got busy killing everyone in practice, he would play.....

Instead, he whines to the media at Yahoo, he whines on Skillzlab, his posse signs up here with new accounts and whines about his treatment by the big bad Houston Rockets organization.

Well, too fricken bad......they are doing what they think is right.....and I for one support them 100%.....

Tracy McGrady needs to man up........and knuckle down, or he will cost himself millions of $$$$$...with his whining.

    Example A: Steph Marbury
    Example B: Allen Iverson

    Is Tracy Example C???????

They can't give a definitive answer as to when they will bring him back. They don't think he is ready to play(nothing wrong with that). If they have no intention of ever playing him again, they should inform him that they looking to trade him or let him know that they will let his contract expire at the end of the season. There is no reason for putting up a front.

It is a business but one doesn't go around making bad deals either. That's bad business.

It is not a bad deal to save money on a guy that is not completely healthy, it is smart business to collect the insurance money for as long as you can while he works himself into tip top shape.

If he can't get there, well, you saved yourself a TON of money.....

Honestly, I do respect that stance. But there's another thing that Adelman has said in the past -- its unfair to a player for him to lose his spot in the rotation due to an injury.

Point out one other situation where a franchise player goes out for the season due to an injury, and then the next year the coach decides he has to earn his spot in the rotation in practice. I don't recall that ever happening.

"Tough love" is putting it way too nicely. This seems more like, "tough go f' yourself."

Edit: Agh, I told myself I wouldn't complain about this Mcgrady situation until at least December. I'm going to just stop.

One question Dakota. Will you feel the same way next year when Yao or his doctors say he is ready but his play on the practice court is saying otherwise?

he doesn't like the guy. i don't think that's hard to understand. tracy is not going to play for us again. if he does, morey must have a deal on hand, and the other team probably wants to see how tracy looks before they ok the deal.

it's that simple. morey probably just doesn't have a deal right now in place where he thinks he can get good assets.

I'm not talking about that. He isn't ready. Les is saving insurance money. That's fine with me. I'm not in favor of a trade that hurts us in the long run. I also feel that we can't get much,if anything of use for him either.

I respect that. I agree. Somehow, I just don't see it playing out that way...
