so this year we have more practice, and don't have b-2-b's and long road trips any more?

what rick said last year must be true. what he said this year must be wrong. it all depends which ear i decide to use to hear it, eh?

I am beginning to believe that the insiders, including Clutch's connections are telling the truth.

This whole thing is so disappointing, on both sides. Yeah, you can say that TMac started it, and he has made his own bed. But I always thought both Adelman and Morey were class acts. Now I am not so sure.

Or maybe the insiders are messing up what they have been trying to do by leaking information. (I know this is an extremely unpopular opinion, almost like blasphemy.) Leaking of information has already cost us in the past, such as the lost of Roy because Portland got news that we wanted him.

i disliked what tracy did last year, esp. announcing the injury publicly himself rather than letting the team do it.

adelman publicly blasted him last year so i don't disagree that adelman absolutely dislikes the guy. i'm sure morey and adelman felt disrespected that tmac thought he could do that himself.

and they're all humans. if the team does indeed hold a grudge, i guess they have a right to. just like tracy has the right to hold a grudge for what the team is doing right now to him.

at the end of the day, we all wish this will be resolved very soon. and unfortunately, i predict a VERY VERY nasty public divorce. both sides will absolutely blast one another once both part ways.

I wouldn't mind trading him for Redd, even though they are both put in the same situations on their teams. I'm sure Redd could help the Rockets more than Stacey can help the Bucks though. At least Redd can move without the ball and shoot, I have no confidence T-Mac can do anything, not even pass the ball.

I don't think Adelman and Morey were being anything but class acts in this ordeal. They never came out to blast McGrady in public. All they said is we'll play him when we think he'll help us win. Some people got all idignant about it, but Adelman and Morey never participated in any public dispute -- and they never did it in any prior "divorces," either, involving the likes of Bonzi, Francis, Mike James, etc. It's "sources close to McGrady" talking to the media about the "insurance" theory. It may be players on the team, or other team employees being sick of McGrady's act talking. You can only contain info so much.

I also don't think Adelman and Morey would be non-class-acts because they decide not playing McGrady is in the best interst of the team. Same as I didn't think Adelman was being un-classy for not thiking playing Steve Francis helped the team win. It's just a basketball decision.

As for the "trade value" being lowered due to the rumor... I am not so sure that it would be. I am sure people around the league already know what McGrady is. He's been around long enough, and gone through a similar thing with the Magic, too.

As for the draft deal... it wasn't Rockets leaking info with the Brandon Roy... it was their counterparties-- Minny and Atl, making it known the guys they wanted Foye and Sheldon Williams.

Supposing you're right (and I don't think you are), this simply shows that the organization realized that what they did last year was a mistake and they're taking their time in contrast to what they did last year. Fixing a mistake is hardly hypocritical or something.

There was no rumor about a feuding between Adelman and Francis. And Francis was already sharply declined before he came back to the Rockets. Not so with McGrady. According to the insiders this time, the "zero interest" in playing McGrady is not just a basketball normal coaching decision. It has something to do with McGrady "not respecting" the organization. Unless the insiders are just talking their opinions as facts, that comes across as petty, as durvasa has rightly pointed out.

It's not whether teams know how McGrady is as a player. There will always be some GM who is willing to take a risk on some talented players. The problem is whenever a team's management/coach is feuding with their star player, other GMs knew they have to trade him and therefore can low ball them. That's how we got McGrady for some lesser talent in the first place.

I suspect and hope they are being classy and truthful in this situation. I think the thing that would make this situation classless, on the organizations part, is if they are lying about Mcgrady's status specifically for the purposes of cashing in on insurance money. There are definitely classy ways of handling this situation. If Mcgrady isn't ready then he can't play (and the org. gets the insurance money). If he is ready then sit him, but it IS NOT classy to lie about the status of his health for monetary gain.

What if he's ready to play, but not ready enough to help the team win (i.e. if they honestly believe that Ariza, Battier, and Budinger are better options than McGrady is right now), should they still play him?

McGrady fan seems to think that just because he's physically "healthy" more or less, he will actually help the team more than the existing players. Adelman did it once with the midseason comeback of Chris Webber and it actually messed up the team's mojo because although Chris could play (and put up plenty of stats), he couldn't help the team win.

It MIGHT be that the Coach and the GM are both conspiring against McGrady, refusing to play him even if doing so will help them win more games. It's kind of far fetched conspiracy theory, though.

Occam's Razor, coaches like winning, if a coach decides not to play a guy, it's because he's trying to win and don't think that guy helps him win. Simple.

By the way... read the posts from a couple years ago... there were plenty of Francis fanboys posting "WHY ADELMAN NO PLAY FRANCIS?!" threads. Also plenty of "WE WANT STEVIE" Chants at the Toyota Center.

Well, I think this question is a little comical but I would say he is not healthy if he can not play well enough to be considered useful for this team (given the ability he usually has when healthy). That's perfectly fine if he is not healthy, don't play him.

I respect Adelman as a coach. He has the final say-so on who plays, period. I think every intelligent fan understands that. The only possible shady element would be if they are lying about his health status for the purposes of getting insurance money or a trade.

steve still had A TON of love when he came back to houston. fans wanted to see him play b/c he's like the adopted son. they just want him on the court, ANY TIME during a game. the chants came mostly during blowouts. we all knew steve didn't have any game left. he couldn't crack the rotation with his 2 previous teams.

it's like even if hakeem made a comeback right now, you'll hear "we want dream" chants. it wasn't b/c we know dream would make a big difference, but it's hakeem. francis may not be the caliber of player hakeem was, but he was loved in houston (for the most part ;) ). i loved steve (and still do).

this is a completely different situation. tracy still has game left. whenever his knee "felt good" last year (mind you, he still hobbled), he played great. so if he microfracture surgery allows his knee to "feel good" again, he should still play at a level that is pretty good. and he would still crack the rotation of 31 other NBA teams, unlike steve.

Disagree. He may have put up some impressive numbers, but his poor defense was a huge liability. Off the top of my head, he played poor defense against Boston and Portland (Roy's GW 3ptr) last year.

I respect that, so next year when Yao is back and they don't win I want the same level of critique to be made being that he will be the highest paid player on the team. Not singling you out but your post seemed to be the better segue.

None of us really knows and that is what, for me, makes this situation the most annoying, we are ALL speculating with little to no concrete info. We are going off the opinions of opinions in some cases or that we believe this guy over that guy. The org has contradicted itself in this mess too. Let us not forget that.

When this team plays the upper echelons teams that is when we will need a McGrady like player most and no one on our current team so far has consistently proven that they could be that. If they (Brooks, Ariza, Landry and/or Scola) do then this fiasco will be easier to deal with. Until then I think we are overachieving. We played a Golden State team that didn't have their aggressive big man Turiaf and I'm not sure if their other big played.

I'm not sold on this team. I respect those who will cheer for and go with the team no matter what. I just can't be one of them. Something is just not right about all of this.

    Go UT

The level of criticism depends how closely a player is playing to his potential. That's why Yao gets much less criticism than McGrady. You can't ask him to do much more with what he has than what he's already done.

Let me first start of by saying I'm a rockets fan by heart. I was a rockets fan before T-Mac and I will be a rockets fan after he leaves here. I believe this goes further than T-Mac. I believe this problem started with the rockets organization and team doctors. Unlike other people on here who haven't played a lick of basketball or any kind of sport, I have and I've been injured. Only T-Mac would know if he has pain or not. How could anyone else know...except for the doctors and team physicians. How could they miss that T-Mac had a major problem with his knee micro-fracture surgery. That isn't something a doctor or better yet a team of doctors would miss unless there was some kind of hidden agenda.

Tell me does anyone think the rockets would have been able to sign Ron Artest last year if they came out and said T-Mac knee is damage and he needs micro-fracture surgery? I don't think Ron would have signed here knowing T-Mac would be out for the season before it even started. Having T-Mac here at the beginning of the season was vital to signing Artest. This brings me to my theory that the Rockets team doctors and management knew what they had to do to get Ron Artest to sign. They tell T-Mac that he is healthy and nothing is wrong and you play through the pain!!! Play through the pain!!! When in the hell did playing through pain meant you were healthy enough to play. When he said something was still wrong with his knee the rockets and organization knew the jig was up. They had to do something. They wanted to trade T-Mac.

In order to trade T-Mac they had to keep telling him that it was all in his head and play through the pain. (I've dislocated my knee before and if my knee is sore its because it's sore from pain). So, how could the pain be in his head if he is limping on the court. Telling T-Mac to play through the pain and it's in his head which the team doctors kept telling him is contradictory. Which is it? Is it pain or is it in his head? C'mon son! They knew he was hurt from the beginning and this **** blew up and now it's time to trade him and he foiled there plans by finding a doctor that said he did need micro-fracture surgery. He was wrong for not doing this behind closed doors but he probably felt slighted for hearing his name in trade rumors after he tried to go out there and play hurt for them.

My point is that with all of the team doctors, physicians, and technology they have they didn't see he needed major knee surgery after the 07-08 season? There's know way could have missed that and they didn't. They saw and Rockets had an agenda to trade T-Mac since last year until he blew everything up. What superstar would want to come to Houston when all this **** hits the fan with T-Mac leaves? People need to be real with themselves and wake up that the Rockets organization set this up and we as the fans are suffering with this ****. What are we going to do when Yao comes back next year? Are we going to do the same with him? The only way a free agent would want to come here is because of Yao. Get ready for an interesting summer.

I'm tired of all of this. It's just getting old. Somebody is bs'sing here and I'm not exactly sure who but none of what the Rockets or McGrady are doing makes sense.

He says he's ready to play, they say he's not. I'm sorry but I don't think McGrady would say he's ready to play and not be ready. He'd only go out on the court and look like a fool and like he's "letting the team down" or "not giving any effort". He'd have to go through last couple years all over again. That said, I don't think he'd say he's ready if he's not.

Furthermore, like another poster before me mentioned, I don't think putting him in for some time is any worse than throwing in Jermaine Taylor or Brian Cook, if you can argue that point, then there's something wrong with you.

That said, I can't fix this situation, none of us can. So instead of continuing to guess what's going on, I'll tell you what I'd like to see. What I'd like to see is Tracy McGrady, Rick Adelman, and Daryl Morey together at a press conference together explaining what the heck is going on.

Some honest answers would be nice. If they're not gonna play him ever, great, say that. I'm not a Tracy fan, I'm a Rockets fan, and if they have no intention of playing him for their own reasons, that's fine with me but don't act like you're going to bring him back when you think he's "ready" with no intention of every playing him.

    I'm done.

If everyone goes to the the previous rosters for the rockets team that T-Mac were on. They were horrible. Hands down. I use to think those teams were awesome and great but I had to look back and take a hard look at the rosters and noticed that they were horrible. But my faith in the rockets to over achieve and do great things overshadowed the truth about our previous rosters. They were horrible.
