This is very valid and i think this is how it is. Randolph had microfracture and it took him a full yr and some. Though DD wants people to believe he should be exploding and doing all the other things because stockton was back in 4 months, funny in itself, i just don't believe he can sustain high level of jumping, moving and cutting right now. He probably could play 10mins a night right now, but nobody knows how he will return. the micrfracture basically ended webber and houston's career. Especially a guy like allan houston who was a jumpshooter, he basically retired on it.If push comes to shove and mcgardy doesn play till later in the year and starts to show some major progress, the rocket will have first dibs anyway.

This is true. Also anyone who's played sports understands that being a "good teammate" encompasses certain immutable things: hard work, sacrifice, team spirit, but it's only noobs who think it's some kind of invariable character trait. Much of it comes down to personalities... who can work with who and many times it comes down to roles, some guys are great leaders but cannot for the life of themselves be good followers and vice versa. Other guys are great teammates when they're winning 22 and big p*****s when they're losing.

It's hard to believe that anyone who's played sports in college or high school on a competitive level doesn't realize that not everyone is always consistent, many times you need the right situation to thrive, it's ignorant to judge Tmac and think because he had issues in the past he can never be a good teammate. That kind of moralizing is stupid and unproductive, and most importantly not indicative of future performance

Bottom line is, management is not acting in the best interests of the club. In terms of probability it's unlikely that Tmac would a superstar asset to the team as in 2005-2007 but is there seriously 0% chance that he could contribute to the 2009 squad? Morey is acting as if that's the case. Also playing Tmac increases the chances that he can show something so Houston can move him. Considering he's eating a $20+million hole in Les' pocket it's counterproductive to "punish" him because they dont want to disrupt some chemistry to threaten a 40 win season LMFAO.

Just let him play. There's only 3 possible outcomes for the Rockets. 1)he'll suck and Morey will be vindicated 2)he'll show enough for them to move him to another team 3)he'll overdeliver and help the team win ballgames. Right now it's like both Morey and Adelman are scared ****less of him, as if Tmac gets on the court he'll be like Godzilla and no power on earth can control him and he'll demolish Toyota center and everything that the Houston Rockets stand for

Not to mention, Tracy didn't look great last year, but he had good games. There were only times when he looks physically hindered. Most of the time, he tried to stay within his physically limits. Dude almost had two triple doubles last year among some of those horrible games too. Is anyone sniffing anything close to a triple double this season?

Let's make an assumption (albeit a big IF here), let's say he is physically where he was 2 seasons ago. You know, the one where he had a bum knee, shoulder, and elbow? He still looked pretty good then.

If it were up to me, if we are already giving players a chance to grow and basically decide their own fates/direction in the league, give Tracy just a handful of games to do the same before trading him.

OK, he pissed you off last year. We get it. He might have been pissing you off the whole time. He's also given you 50+ win seasons every season he didn't miss a significant amount of games. Give him at least 5 games to up his trade value. His value is higher for prospective teams, and we'd hopefully get a little more for him.

    Wrong.

This isn't baseball, were you can add guys into the lineup and have a negligible effect on the rest of the hitters.

You add McGrady and you risk the following:

Ball taken out of Aaron Brooks' hands, killing his game almost completely.

Disruption of Ariza's role on the team, probably hurting his confidence or driving him to become selfish with the ball to ensure getting his shots ( a la McGrady's effect on Artest last year).

Depressing the team moral, especially Battier and Scola.

Choking off the emphasis on fast breaks, something McGrady's effectively done his entire tenure with the Rockets.

Killing ball movement, another staple of this team's winning formula, which McGrady did with glee last year.

The disruption that McGrady offers isn't worth it - unless he's killing people in practice and looks like he's the 2004 superstar he used to be. Again, when he comes back, it needs to be off the bench until (if) he and the team find themselves.

Lets say they do give him those 5 games and lets say....the Rockets some how goes 1-4. I'm thinking on extremes here, of course, because it's like expecting the worst. If they go 1-4, they slip back to .500 and wouldn't that be a bit demoralizing for the team that was 3 games over .500? Wouldn't they be even more confused as to why bring back a player they might not even want on the court just to tear down what they've been working on?

I mean, how many "13 in 35" cards can one guy have?

If this happens, then they don't need to be on a pro team. I agree with some of what you're saying, but a halthy enough to play mcgrady makes everyone on the team better, yeah i said it. It makes brooks better because brooks likes to score and with tracy, he gets to be more scorer. That same mcgrady helps battier get that extra split second on the shot and gets scola that extra uncontested layup. Don't get it twisted.

Again, if this season which in my opinion they are using as a chance for players to learn. Ie. Playoffs would be nice, but they aren't banking on it.

As I said, this team is scrappy, but it's not a contender. As I've said before, in my opinion, their playstyle is not conducive to winning consistently. It's exciting, nail biting and fun to watch no question.

Again, I say give TMac a run. If he pulls any BS, bench him, and say, "we gave you a chance to better your situation Tracy. You screwed us again, and yourself in the process. Good luck and good bye.

You talk about the team's overall mood. Is this the same team everyone is touting as resilient? The same team that apparently shrugged off all that TMac drama from last year and this?

I'm not worried about the team.

We may have to agree to disagree. I think playing him is good for the Rockets. You think not, that's cool.

I count 4 good games for him last year (11/4, 11/6, 11/12, 11/21), against 12 games in which he was a big factor in the loss. Could not disagree more with your assessment of how he looked physically. He looked alarmingly slow, especially laterally, nearly the entire season.

They've already done this like 50 times. Will the 51st time be the charm? I wouldn't bank on it.

I think they could have handled this better. Why wait until now to announce that we have no plans to keep him and want to trade him? Why sell wolf tickets to the fans? None of all this Insurance fraud and "I'm ready, no you're not" drama would have happened if they just said what they just said from the start. Then again, I guess it makes the organization look bad if they were trying to trade a rehabbing player. Funny because as soon as he was healthy enough to practice, all these Trade him, rockets don't want him stories come out.

Or maybe they did want to keep him but after T-Mac called them out on the insurance gate, must have been the last straw. Whatever the reason, this could scare potential free agents away and even current players from re-signing.

He would have been gone last year if it weren't for his audible play of getting surgery, IMO.

Yeah, but Scola and Battier will be sad to see Tracy's man scoring at will over him posession after posession.

From what i know, tracy shouldnt have played till mid december. He shouldn't have played till about now last year. Although people won't believe it, i'm just saying what i know.

I still don't understand the logic he used to come up that going public before calling his team was a good move.

Geez..why doesnt the chronicle or fox have any scoop about this piece of news?
All other reports are just about RICK wanting TMAC to be game ready before inserting him in the lineup instead of working his way into shape in games...and then all of a sudden this surfaces..i think we fans deserve better..its getting tiring..we want to know whats going on w/ our team and our superstar. We have to move on whether its w/ TMAC or w/out.

In the past, there was more at stake. The situation they were hoping for was to see a Tracy to help us win. Whether he tried or not, is up to who you ask obviously. But now, the situation is, you want to improve his value. I think the risk is relatively low. Improving his value obviously is a benefit for the Rockets, but there's incentive for Tracy to play well too.

I think it's a low risk situation that can only yield you a better trade later. Worst case, he pulls some crap and you just trade him for his contract (which is what you are already trying to do). Not to mention, for all those fans that are saying, "just play him!" you show the fans the real deal, and earn the confidence of all of them.
