Consistently regarded as one of the top ten medical school's in the nation, though I am not sure what their position was over 30 years ago.

"In 1969, Baylor College of Medicine severed its ties with Baylor University Baylor University under the direction of Dr. Michael E. DeBakey, in order to receive more state funding and grants."

Right around the time he would be seeking his degree. Thirty years later he is a member of "this" and a specialist in "that." Even if were a competent Medical Doctor, Clanton is way too prosperous to even consider rocking the boat. Yao Ming's greatest strength is also his greatest weakness: he is simply too big to compete at this high of a level for a whole NBA season--a fly on a wall could see this.

And although hindsight is 20/20, I still blame Dr. Clanton for this. In the end, whose watch did it happen on?

Here's a title Dr. Clanton can add to his curriculum vitae: Chief Wanker.

    Sigh.

You know, the thing that irks me THE MOST is the doctors. Let me be straight up front. I think a lot of Doctors are full of it. Not all. But MANY. When they don't know, they don't say "oh, I don't know." They give the most optimistic assessment, and should something go wrong, they chalk it up to the unexpected. For Chrissake, YAO IS A GIANT. Anyone with half a brain and half an iota of common sense would realize that the physics associated with this sort of man, playing basketabll PROFESSIONALLY, for that matter is a lot different than ordinary men. But instead of delving into the tomes of medicinal records for big men, the prescrptions are "by the book" when the patient is anything but.

Fact is, there is a little evidence-based science surrouding bone and foot injuries for big men relative to those of "average" men. So one needs to ask...

    1. Are the screws adequate for man of this size?
    2. Are the screws adequate for a man of this size playing basketball?
    3. What would be the healing time for a man of this size?

In most cases, the answer is "I DO NOT KNOW." And if the answer is I DO NOT KNOW, the correct path is to err on the side of conservatism, not least of which should have been to say definitively BACK WHEN... Yao can ONLY play so much.

No, this is not hindsight being 20/20. This is just common sense.

If I were the Rox org, I would, without hesitation sue the original doctor who treated Yao's foot.

    :D

Same story different site. All these sites reporting it just refer back to Yahoo as breaking the story.

^^^^I'd still, like many I'm sure, would like to know who these credible sources are. The injury is real, but Im having a hard time buying these credible sources saying Yao is done. Forever that is. Out for a season? I could see that? Done? Ehh I'm not sure.

I hope now we don't look to rebuild, we pushed the champions without Yao. I would be all hands on deck trying to get Stoudamire, if Yao comes back then great, if not we are still a contender.

After watching the ESPN spot on Yao being out there seems to be the once again dreaded mis communication between the Dr. Clanton and the organization. The team is very disappointed with Dr. Clanton going publice to Yahoo with news. I hope the news get better on Yao in the next few days.

No need to go chasing a Stoudemire. Then you "have to" sign Ron. Amare alone wont get you over the top. Amare then can opt out next year unless Morey think he is a franchise player you can build around - and Im not so sure he is. And if Yao is done, as its been suggested though I dont think so but if he is done, then your gonna build your team around Ron Artest? No I dont think thats a safe idea. We should let the Yao and T-Mac injury situation play out, worst case, neither are available to play next year. Best case, they both come back mid season or there after. We should just play our hand and see how things go.

He seems relaxed. But I don't like him putting the right leg on the injured one.

He quit his position as the team doctor a few months back. Why is he still involved in all this?

Probably because we got no one else. Then again, Houston is FULL of medical experts. But you are right, Clanton is heading off to Colorado.

    +1

Losing a few million fair weather fans wouldn't be the worst thing to happen. Rockets for life.

If Amare didnt resign you have a bucket load of cash, lets say Yao is done then I am sure if he really wanted the money from the player option the Rockets would pay him out with Yao taking up the year. Hello $40 million there with only Ron Artest at say 7 mil a year left on the books. You only need a spare $20 million to sign one player that would put that team over the top. Theres plenty of teams that started 'rebuilding' ages ago and still have gone no where...

Yeah I guess thats true but do you think Stoudemire fits here? The thing he does well is what he does on offense. He could care less about defense and as some suggested, he'd want it to be all about him, as if hes the show and there is no one else around. Sorta like what we have in Ron Artest and how he thinks hes best of the best.

Nothing really new from what Im about to post, but more news from FOX 26:

Nothing really new as I said, however, retirement may become or has become an option for Yao.

Let us all wait until October and take it from there. If Yao is not fit by then, then chances are that the scenarios mentioned in the article can be true. It is premature as the Doctor said that it is way too early to make rush judgments or on Yao's part rush decisions. Hope for the best.

I think I'm more and more interested now to trade him out. Every season going down with some injury is getting redundant and sickening. grrrr
