How many run and gun offenses have won a championship in the past 10-15 years? None.

This thread is far too large to read through, but I'll add a couple of my thoughts that I am sure others have touched on.

    1. Any big mystery why the office was working so hard to get good, young talent out of this draft?

    2. Any big mystery why we didn't more actively pursue players like Carter who have large, unfortunate contracts?

Seems to me they might have suspected something like this and acted accordingly.

    3. This one really hurts, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. We've heard bad news before; these past four or five seasons have had the entire fanbase watching with baited breath waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it usually did. It seems it might have dropped hard this time, and it has a sense of finality to it that the other injuries didn't. Basically, this blows.

    4. Yao : Sorry big guy. Of course I'm a Rockets fan first and foremost, but I'm also a huge Yao Ming fan, and I can't say that about most of the stars in this league. A guy like Chris Paul or Amare Stoudemire would certainly be easy to root for, but Yao is just such a class act that it seems only fair that he would succeed.

Rebuilding is obviously an option, but I for one will miss the hell out of Yao once he's gone, especially if its way sooner than I thought it would be.

Of course, there is that huge maybe in this whole situation. Maybe he'll be fine after all, and this will be the year. We're just going to have to wait and see.

I'm looking forward to the rebuilding, I'm tired of always waiting for Yao and T-Mac to get healthy. The young up-tempo Rockets were more fun to watch this past year anyway. Maybe we will have to go through a couple of bad years to reload, it will be worth it.

So what do you suggest? Trade off everything except Scola and Brooks?

run and gun offenses have been closer to a champtionship than a team that builds around a 7'5 good but not great center ever got...

The current team can run, but is still defensive minded.

Well, when Yao came here, I kept talking about Rik Smits as a decent comparison for expectations. Yao was a better player, a game changer, but it looks like he'll end up with not quite as long a career? Ugh, just ugh.

I bet people get increasingly hesitant to draft people over, say, 7' 2".

Adios. Some of us are Rockets fans, not fans of a particular player, regardless of where he plays. With all due respect.

Get better Yao. You're one of the nicest and most hard-working guys in the league. A humble All-Star who I could really root for, when others turned me off with their attitudes. The best true back-to-the-basket player of your generation.

It can't end like this. :(

We need to find the "League exec" and whip his pot stirring ace!

This person has tipped Morey's hand and needs to be dealt with Old World style!

I guess McGrady is staying.. If he gets traded then its an obvious answer that they are in rebuilding mode. Keeping Mac will be great for this team. Yao is probably going to turn into another Bill Walton. Its a damn shame.

Well, since reports say that Yao's career as we know it is esentially over(he may come back, but I doubt he ever plays more than 25 MPG or average 20 and 10) and that T-Mac has had serious injury problems for the better part of the last 4 years, including the dreaded microfacture surgery(probably will miss hal/most of next season) I think a rebuild is in order. I hate the idea of rebuilding given that it seemed that we were an injury away from the conference finals, but it's becoming apparent that our two main guys can't stay healthy. I'm not mad at Yao because it is not natural for a human being to be 7'6", it's just that it is upsetting since he has so much talent that will be limited or gona altogether. He is owed 16 mil the next two years (HE WILL NOT OPT OUT!) but T-Mac comes off the books after next year, and Houston is a respected destination for NBA players. It sucks that the NBA draft is such a crapshoot now given that most players are only sticking around in college for one season. It is what is, though. Run and gun for the next couple years, maybe win a playoff series or two, and hope that we can score in the draft and a couple of free-agents. Maybe T-mac will pull a miracle and show up next year early.....it sucks, though.....By the way, Artest is as good as gone now..... :(
