this is depressing but a tad bit expected

I don't want to use the "T-word" but i think that may sum up the season for us :(

The Rockets medical staff is like a medial bag full of various chocolates: you never know what sort of diagnosis you're going to get.

Let's go ahead and find fault here (the medical staff has already been mentioned): Coaching (too many frickin' minutes); Chinese National Team officials (too many frickin' months playing/training - '***** them!'...; And finally, Yao himself didn't need to bulk up after his first few seasons, but did, adding '15 lbs of muscle'.

Yao was never a normal player who could be placed on a 'basketball treadmill' year-round. Every fan around the world had picked up on after his first two seasons. We all saw this coming back then and warned 'Don't run Yao into the ground'.

Well, now it's looks as though they have, and all we can hope is that he comes back and plays at all.

He's a bleeder. He bleeds real good like Tracy. Time to orchastrate some trades and resign Ron to move forward. NO MORE BLEEDERS!!!!

Gortat is valuable if he was backing up Yao.

Or he could do what Pryzbilla does in Portland...be a nice, solid center, who can get you 8 points and 10 rebounds per night, be able to finish at the basket, maybe a block or 2, and play solid defense inside. Also be able to play 35 minutes per night.

Since Yao most likely won't play next year, our team is going to be built around Tmac, Scola, and Brooks, and maybe Artest...basically a perimeter oriented team.

Gortat could help us then by being a solid starting center. He won't have to do anything special, just be consitent every game.

However, some idiot team will OVERPAY him like crazy since he was hyped up by being a better post defender than Dwight Howard (not that hard to do).

I could easily see NYC over paying for him. Although he would help them, he isn't worth more than $5 -6million per year at most. I see somebody giving him 8-10 million IMO...

NYC isnt going to overpay for anyone unless its a one-year deal they want as little money tied up as possible for the summer of LeBron

I don't know if his career is over. But honestly how many people are really surprised? Unfortunately Yao has struck me as someone who simply, by no fault of his own, is a victim of his own build. For his sake and the Rockets sake I hope he improves. But I don't think it's off base to say he's just never going to be reliably healthy ever.

I pray they do NOT sign Ron!!! Let contracts lapse and look to the 2010 and 2011 free agents plus the upcoming drafts to rebuild the team. If all goes well the team should be back in the hunt by the 2011 season. Only miss two seasons.

If they resign Ron they will not be able to get the better FA's...

    This SUCKS!!

You're completely missing the point. Personnel decisions should no longer be viewed through the paradigm of this current roster. Any apparent needs or holes are completely irrelevant.

Chron: Yao could miss entire season with foot injury

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6503064.html

Adrian Wojnarowski is a solid reporter, but I was holding my breath until Feigen wrote it. Well...

It seems certain we won't have any retirement announcement this summer or even next season. Yao's a warrior, and he'll give it every shot, which seems like it could easily go through next season.

Couldn't happen to a better guy.
