Could it be possible that the Rockerts wanted the second pick in order to draft Thabeet?

Rubio has potential to run a team and lead a team, Thabeet is simply a defender and role player. If he gives you points that is a bonus.

This is China's fault for overworking the dude during the summer and the Rockets for not solidifying the backup role and over exerting Yao during the season. Not time for placing blame tho, time for action!

They brought up a good point on 610. If Yao is done or if Yao doesnt play this next season, do you think he'd pick up the option for the sake of picking up the option? In other words, do you think he would "trap" us for another year so to speak, or do what many want, and opt out and call it that?

It's weird that the initial diagnosis concluded that Yao only needs rest to let the foot gradually heal. Now the result showed the fracture even gets worse. Does this mean that the initial diagnosis and suggested treatment are completely wrong? Nice job, medical team of the Rockets!

I know but the Rockets got by with Mutombo and Thabeet is much younger and more mobile. Rubio would be nice but we dont need a point guard like we now need a center.

He would be stupid not to pick up his option.

The team will get paid by insurance, but our cap room will be hurt by it.

This is the danger of guaranteed contracts.

Doesn't that sound similar to the advice they gave McGrady?

He's a noble guy and all, but it's a bit too much asking him to turn down 17 million dollars for the team. It's kind of like the Jeff Bagwell situation for the Astros a few years back where it would've helped the team if he retired earlier but no one was mad when he didn't.

Of course, Yao will pick up his option. It is not for Yao, it is for the team Yao.

    2002 draftees were cursed

Yao (3 season ending foot/knee injuries and now probably career ending foot injury)
    Jay (well, NBA ending injury)
    Nene (season ending knee injury)
    Amare (season ending knee/eye injury)

Yeah it would be stupid of him for his sake but it doesnt seem to me like Yao would pick up his option to hurt the team knowing he may not play again. Or even worse, Yao sits out this season and does whatever, rehab, heals, etc. and DM and co. give him an extension thinking he is completely healthy and ready to go. Either way, he'll prob. pick up the option.

The Mcgrady era was over when he got microfracture surgery. The Yao era is over today, he'll need surgery if its not healing which means he is done for next season. He exercises his option for 2010 and puts the Rox in cap hell for two years, I doubt if he has any value in 2010. Pretty sad for both the Rox and Yao and his HOF legacy.

let tmac come off the books.

S&T ron for a young piece or a future pick.

trade shane and scola for picks in 2010.

    resign von.

If he is done and makes it known that he won't pick up the option then he would become a tradeable expiring contract a'la T-Mac. Hell maybe the Hornets would accept a trade for Chandler since they are desperately trying to save money and insurance would be paying Yao for the upcoming season.

Okay what i don't get is that from the beginning they told him to just wear a walking boot and walk around like it's no big deal.... i was skeptical when i heard this. Seems maybe that is okay to do for a 200lb person, not a freak giant 320+ lbs. Seems like someone messed up and should've had him in a cast and crutches and now they realize it when the CT scan shows that the fracture got WORSE!

Someone earlier mentioned that maybe it was this bad to begin with and the staff missed it and mis diagnosed it as a simple stress fracture. I find this hard to believe, but then again these are the same docs that keep ****ing everything else up as far as injuries go with this team.

I am so frustrated right now and want to blame the rockets med staff but i am almost certain that when the injury first happened, and now, that YAO had seen other specialists as well so what scares me is that he is simply not healing, thus the mention of them doing tests to see if the adequate amount of blood is flowing to the injured area. That sounds pretty serious, and i believe Garrison Hearst (ex RB from the 49's and Broncos)had this problem and had to get surgeries to restore blood flow and have it heal. Whenever they are suspecting lack of blood flow for bones not healing it's not good.......
