Pay for everything. Overbooking flights and lightly
threatening you not getting a seat unless you pay extra to get a seat assignment, then there are the luggage scams. More than anything Frontier is the worst at playing the market where if the market was lower when the majority of the people who booked paid, and the price is higher at the time of the flight, they’ll cancel that flight and only credit you for a later flight that is much more expensive so they make more money.

People are already there at the airport so they aren’t going to cancel a vacation so they do it. It happened to me and several people I know and I asked my friend who works for Saber and she told me it’s more prevalent than you think.

yeah, I don't fly them because of the (likely) threat of cancellation, plus, I have a fear that budget airlines are skimping in other, more safety focused, areas.

but I never pay baggage fees, because I always pack light, and carry on.

and I pay extra for my seat, because I'm tall and old AF.

You cannot carry on with Spirit and Frontier for free. You can only have a personal item the size of a purse. It costs just as much to check a 45 pound suitcase as it does a carry on so nobody in their right mind would pack less for the same amount of money.

That being said, one of the good things about it and the way they spin it is you do board and get off the plane much faster.

Safety is probably the last area you need to worry about because aircraft safety is so heavily regulated there is probably very little difference between the airlines when it comes to things like maintenance. In some regards the smaller carriers might be better because they maintain a smaller fleet with fewer type planes.

I’ve never flown Spirit, but it seems to be the greyhound bus of airlines

there might be little difference between airlines when it comes to plain maintenance, but if any plane were to start bouncing mid flight like it came equipped with hydraulics, I would guess it was Spirit

They should charge you triple for anyone who has to sit next to you.

Clutch's fee structure for supporting members hits people of color the most

So did Biden say people of color are taller or they statistically people of color have less wealth than the median white family and therefore their wallet doesn't carry as far?

I had a very bumpy flight to Houston on United last week and last year had a fight that had to abort the landing at MSP twice on Delta. Turbulence happens but the FAA really doesn't want to see any planes crash whether it's Spirit or Emirates. What those airlines charge and how they charge though they are less concerned about.

I used to use Spirit quite a bit between MSP and IAH when I had to make frequent back-and-forth weekend trips where I was just traveling with my backpack. It seemed to serve its purpose well-enough then.

The extra charges seem to have gone out of control now. I don't think I'll ever use one of those "budget airlines" for anything other than a very short emergency trip.

Yep, they're the Ryanair of America. Experienced travelers know to avoid them unless it's an absolute emergency while less savvy flyers see a tempting low price base fare that's compounded by fees, cancellation risk, etc.

Higher door price = less sales = less installation = less labor. LMK what the color demo is on door installers and we'll figure it out.

People of color don't have to upgrade. I agree that there shouldn't be surprise fees. I've never flown those budget lines so I don't know what hidden fees they tack on.

Also, your explanation that people of color are less well off, while true, that category is already included when Biden mentioned "low-income folks". It's kinda unnecessary for Biden to mention people of color.

And it's a little insulting to those people of color who are filthy rich but getting called poor anyway. If it's just a socio-economic generality, it's jumped the shark. He could have said it hits customer service reps the hardest, he would have been more right, but the ridiculousness becomes more obvious. Just stop at 'poor folks'.

So you to think he meant people of color are taller?

I mean he's just calling out statistical probabilities:
    https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/fiscal-fact/median-value-wealth-race-ff03112019

Yes it is a factual statement that fees harm people of color disproportionately. What is the controversial statement here?

Every harship in the world hits poc more because they are generally less wealthy.

“The pandemic effects poc the most”

    “Inflation effects poc the most”

“High gas prices effect poc the most”

“Abortion restrictions effects poc the most”

It can be, and is, used for almost every situation. It all relates back to the same point. We got it the first time. It strikes me as disingenuous at this point and unnecessarily making everything about race.
