It's not against the law to video tape a football practice. It might be against NFL rules...but I'm unaware of any federal laws violated here.

I was speaking in general terms, the Pats cheated and now justic got served. Clemens cheated and he is getting his.

I am happy either way, not trying to say they are the same thing or on the same level just saying I am glad kids (and adults for that matter) are seeing it does not pay to cheat

This might shed some light on the situation.

Actually, I'm guessing for this reason, Clemens' camp changed their minds last night and agreed to a deposition. Prosecution is likely with either the deposition or transcribed interview if you lie to Congress -- Tejada had a transcribed interview and that's why he's under investigation now. But the stigma of not actually being under oath would've stung Clemens badly, and I'm guessing that's why they rethought this.

He gave 5 hours of sworn testimony today. He's not hiding from anything. Can we stop pretending he is so we can jump to conclusions?

Wow...5 hours, man they must of had a lot of detailed questions or there was a lot non-answers to questions which lead to more questions. Interesting...

He will have been well coached.....

He will hide behind the "I never did it" because he didn't physically do it HIMSELF, but I am sure they will ask him about whether McNamee ever injected him...and it will be a he said/he said type of deal.

Look at his interview right after... "I have never used steroids or Growth hormones"......not that he has not had them injected, but that HE has not used them.

How can they ever prove it?

I think Clemens will be treated like Mark McGwire.

I didn't say he was hiding from anything. However, you'd be foolish to say Roger isn't very conscious of his image, and the stigma of the "it wasn't under oath" phrase likely drove this decision. What about that insinuates that he's hiding from something?

If a third party (aka. Andy) can back McNamee then it's pretty much game over. Don't think any of this is good for Roger but it will be up to us to decide if Roger is guilty or not because it will be he/she said.

i wasn't necessarily directing the statement to you....just sort of a general vent.

but let's stop talking about what it might have been...it WAS 5 hours under oath, as i understand it.

Five hours and 10 minutes... you're exactly right. I give him credit.

By the way, a few of you might recognize the face on the front page of MLB.com (other than Roger). ;)

Not to keep piling on...but i've been hearing for weeks now how he really wouldn't do it....how he'd only take the 5th, etc. He just did...under oath.

Before then it was that he wouldn't just come out to the public...then he appeared on 60 Minutes and scheduled a press conference.

It never seems to be enough. He's gone much further than any other athlete associated with this stuff. Certainly farther than those who testified before Congress the last time who had just as much to lose...particularly McGwire.

So when is it enough? Or we all convinced he went in to perjure himself today?? Is that more or less believable than McNamee's statements to threatening investigators???

And how did I start defending Roger Clemens when I really don't like the guy????

Unfortunately, my 15 minutes are already up... haha.

I wrote about it in the article, but the biggest story of today besides Roger actually going under oath for five hours was Roger's demeanor. Yesterday, Pettitte was so timid... grasping at his wife's hand... not saying a word... almost running to the back room. Today, Clemens was smiling from ear to ear... saying good morning... looking around the hearing room... and spoke to the media afterward. The last item was definitely a huge contrast from how condescending he was at the Houston news conference.

You can call it confidence or you can call it arrogance, but he's certainly not intimidated in the least. He's also not bothered by the attention, but I'm pretty sure we already knew that. :)

Credit to Max for continuing to point out the obvious.

Credit to the Cat for giving credit where it's due.

Credit to the Rocket for stepping up.

Did I already mention that McNamee said Pettite had no knowledge of Clemens alleged activity, completely denying his lawyers charge that started this thread?

Agreed. Lets not lose sight of the FACTS, there are none as of yet so lets let this work itself out. This is a dog and pony show up until now but next week will tell the tale. IMHO he did not do this, but if he did I wil respect whatever happens to him. I am sorry but a beer can full of needles and dirty bloody guaze pads does not mean %^&$. Prove to me he did this, with actual evidence and testimony...dont you think somone else would know the facts??
I think alot of people are upset in HTown because Roger left and their bitter...look deep down, whats your motivation
