How do you take the 5th on someone else's guilt? That just protects you from your own guilt.

I guess I learn something new daily. I thought you could take it on any question you didn't want to answer, guess not. Carry on.

This is pretty strange since McNamee is already on record as saying Pettite didn't know about Clemens and Clemens didn't know about Andy.

IIRC, Pettitte's best friend is Jesus Christ ..........and if you think long and hard about that, you'll realize why he may very well rat out Clemens

I've heard it said that Roger and Andy were never that great of friends to begin with. They trained together, and allowed the friendship story to go on, because it looked good and was free good publicity.

But that in reality they didn't really hang out outside of team stuff. They just weren't all that social.

    Exactly.

Roger is a cheat and liar. I do not need Andy's corroboration.

I am sure this will not end well for Roger - we shall see.

I've read that article twice now.

Please point out where it says Pettite may corroborate anything.

I don't know how... but somehow the link in the initial post has changed - if you notice the date on the story it currently links to, the date is after the date of the original post in this thread...

    This was the original link:

Pettitte denied comment today, but he definitely looked very nervous today clutching his wife's hand walking by the media circus. :D I'm guessing something substantive came out of this. Committee staffers said before the meeting that they expected it to last 1-2 hours... it essentially took three.

As for tomorrow, I've heard that Clemens is actually supposed to give a transcribed interview instead of a deposition (what Pettitte gave). For those who don't know, one difference is that a transcribed interview isn't under oath. Another, though, is that transcribed interviews are *supposed* to be made available to the public immediately, so there might be something tomorrow. We'll see...

Something tells me Roger and Andy may be skating at opposite ends of the pond at the next annual Clemens-Pettitte Roller-Rink Party.

I hope it's not true, it will make Roger look very bad...it will be another PR nightmare. This is just gonna get uglier and uglier...

It's stuff like this that makes Clemens' look so guilty. Any idea if/when Pettitte's statements would become public?

Probably not until Feb. 13 at the next hearing. Not sure if it'll be released in full, but the marquee items from Pettitte will be obvious from the testimony.

Why does Congress need another hearing at this point? I get having one hearing on this. But Congress' interest in public hearings on steroids have to do with how they affect kids in amateur sports...at least that's been the way they've communicated. What are they going to learn from this to assist in that effort?

Sorry Cat...it's not really directed at you...just me venting.

That's my best guess. Gets them some free publicity.

The Arlen Specter/Spygate thing is even more nauseating.

I agree..I have no idea what they're thinking there.

But what do they need from Andy now? More testimony?? Is he on trial? He just gave a deposition...what the hell else do you need? You have answers under oath on paper now.
