I would like to see them make the 3-point arc bigger but require that any 3-pt attempt be from your scoring half-court.

Nothing worse than one of those two-handed or baseball heaves that goes in for 3....

For evaluation purposes, it is easier to compare the game of basketball with and without the 3 this way.

No one knows what will happen, and I'm not saying I'm for removing it because its fun to watch, but have you guys played without the 3? Doesn't movement increase? Doesn't the in-between-game suddenly come alive? Doesn't it force players to develop more dimensions to their games?

I have to admit I'm curious to see the game without the 3.

More scoring or not has to do more with the offense then rules.
Look at the Kings/Mavs/Suns if they play run n gun then scoring would increase.

but more team are going with longer set offense that takes the shot clock down to like 5 before they shoot the ball.

CHANGE THE SHOT CLOCK TO 20 IF THEY WANT MORE OFFENSE AND SCORING!

...or, maybe we could change the game clock! Have 6 quarters - THAT WOULD INCREASE SCORING!!!

Why does everybody assume that increased scoring is necessarily a good thing for basketball?

I wouldn't want to experiment drugs on my kids before I try it out on myself. I don't know why they are doing this, but they are missing the point like Michael Bay missed the mark....when he made Pearl Harbor.

This is just for evaluation. It's great that they have another entire league to do this experiment and see the results. It would be very interesting to see how the game changes withouth the 3. Having times during a game in which the 3 does an doesn't count would allow you to see in the game how it changes when it is counted/not counted.

I think that's my point - because people can't shoot, then the zone decreases scoring.... it's becoming a problem in the NBA! If there were more guys who could can the triple consistently, then you just couldn't sit back in zone D.

Look at other leagues around the world - they have a much shorter 3 point line - which means you HAVE to guard the shooters or pay for it with a three. Check the olympic games - team USA got whupped because they wouldn't guard the opposing three point shooters (every game).
Now I don't think the line should come in to international distance, just a little closer than it currently is - makes the three pointer easier to hit and means you have GOT to get out on your man. That then opens up the middle....

The PROBLEM with illegal D rules is that it is a bit ridiculous! How do you properly enforce it? When the rule was in the officials consistently got it wrong and gave away a free throw - or worse, they just didn't call it in close games anyway....
