    Are you down on Asik?

Lee is a B+ player with no star potential. Good chip, but hardly irreplacable.

IMO, Asik lacks star potential, but has the potential to be a B+ big. Those are hard to find.

I find it hard to beleive that we wouldn't swap lee for asik straight up.

I think we're going off the basic 6'10 and up criteria to be labeled as a traditional "PF". Don't ask me, I didn't make the rules! lol But on a realistic note, I think his build is more lean then a traditional power forward, thus he goes into the undersized category because when facing a true "POWER" forward like a Tim Duncan, he would be undersized.

    He's 220 and 6'9, vs a Zach Randolph who's 6'9 and 260. Undersized yet again.

Perhaps you also find hard to believe the numerous reports that have been floating for weeks now of the Bulls refusing to deal Asik, and now trying to move 2 first round picks for Lee.

That's the sticking point people. Rockets want Asik; Bulls don't want to give up Asik. If need be, Bulls can look elsewhere for a 2 guard thats comparable to Lee, it's not THAT big of a get to pull Lee, like someone said earlier, at best he's a B/B+ shooting gaurd.

Didn't you kind of answer your own question? Here's what you said:

-CLee is a B+ player right now
-Asik could one day be a B+ player
-why aren't we doing a straight swap?

Well, because Courtney Lee is a better player, as you said, that's why.

Go ask the Clippers if they're pissed that they've been waiting so long to get the future first rounder from Minnesota in the Marko Jaric-for-Sam Cassell trade from several years ago.

It's been top-10 (or more) protected for many years and will be UNPROTECTED in 2012.

The Clippers may have themselves the #1 pick in 2012 thanks to that "not so great" future pick.

I'm not DOWN on Asik. I'm just UP on Lee (and I think so is Morey), to the point where I'd be unwilling to trade him for anything less than Asik plus at least a DECENT first rounder. Neither Chicago's nor Miami's 2011 picks (nor Chicago's 2012 pick) are going to be very good. Hence, the need for the 2012 CHA pick, which could actually turn out to be VERY good, although it will require some patience on the part of Rockets fans.

Assuming, for a moment, that Chicago is actually offering two first rounders for Lee, they are likely the 2011 MIA pick and Chicago's own pick, either this year or next. See above for why I am not enamored with that proposal.

Hell, I don't care if I'm offered picks 25-30 of this year's draft. Courtney Lee is a better player than ANY of those picks would likely be. And with as many young players as are already on this team, I'd rather stick with the BEST possible player than have multiple chances to try and find a guy who MIGHT be as good as Lee is now.

Regardless Lee is gone. At the last hour, if Bulls still won't give up Asik...DM will take the two first rounders. Who wouldn't? Yes, DM always wanted Lee.. Until T.Will became available.

IMO, you can draft another Lee....Morey has never mentioned Lee being all-star caliber like he has Williams... Or has he? Lol

Agree to disagree. I think Courtney Lee has hit his potential, and will be a B/B+ guard for the remainder of his NBA career. Good 3rd scoring option, but never first, and maybe sometimes 2nd.

If the Rockets aren't planning on bringing in a 1st/2nd option to go along with a Martin, then I'd prefer them to trade Lee because of the simple fact that we don't know the potential of those picks; it's a little presumptive to dismiss 2 first rounders and say Lee is a better player than any of those picks will likely be when you have 0 evidence to how those 1st rounders will perform in the league. Not to mention, come draft day, whats saying the Morey doesn't package the 2 draft picks here with somethin else to either move up in the draft of pull off some other deal in the offseason?

It's important to focus on longterm goal for this Rockets team, because this year is all but wrapped, and if they can start the rebuilding process on a good note with good young talent, it's a route they need to jump on. It'll cut costs on salary too, bringin them back into the next free agent field. With the recent destabilization of the Western Conference, the Rockets continue to get closer to the playoffs without doing much, now they just have to make smart moves in the next 1-2 yrs to be right back in it. Martin is a solid piece.

The only way I would take those picks for Lee is if Chicago gets a third team involved to get us a center with them.

Without a start worthy or defensive center, the deal's not worth it imo.

I would rather keep him than make a poor trade just to make Chicago happy. We have a need, they have a need. Help fill that need with an even trade or no deal. We can keep him, and draft a center with our own pick.

Chicago needs to work the phones for a third team's center.

    E'ff it!

The Bulls can have Courtney Lee, but they have to give us all the picks they have in their possession!!!!

Thank you. I don't understand why people don't get the simple idea of they need a big and it's not worth it for them to trade a big for a small right now.

And what's wrong with giving them Lee and a bench guy? First of all, Asik is low salary, and Lee + random bench big = more money then just Asik. The Bulls are under the cap by about 1.5 mil and they can just sign an additional SG while keeping Asik. By taking on Lee and your random big, they'd lose a proven big in their system (Asik) that has done real well in the system and has good chemistry with the team.

This trade works. If we want to take on Luol Dengs contract. He is an upgrade over Battier plus they get defense with Battier and expiring contract they wanted to get rid of. We get better as a team and taller.

    Think about this lineup
    Asik/Hayes
    Scola/Patterson
    Deng/Twill
    Martin/Budinger
    Lowry/Brooks

Still got guys to trade for oher stars. Still got what we wanted. Deng is only 25. Got a guy similar to Wallace.

Deng is too valuable to the Bulls this year. He's definitely not moving for anything less then a much bigger star, not a lesser to equal one. I mean you gotta remember, this is the same guy that the bulls got hung up on when it came to the Kobe talks a few years ago. He's finally playing up to his potential now as a 2nd scorer to Rose. Too valuable for Bulls now to let go.

I have never heard of rumorpress.net, so if they are full of complete bull then flame me. I'm on the realgm board, so I wouldn't be shocked if they are full of complete bull. This is what they say though:

If the Bulls can throw in a 1st round draft pick with Bogans and Asik for Lee and Brad Miller, then I would probably do that deal.

I've always felt that they would be interested in Brad Miller. But that trade is still a joke -- no way unless they're sending us CHA 1st rounder back as well. I'd be okay with Miller/Lee for Asik/CHA 1st/Filler
