no way i would trade lee for asik. The only reason we would ever do that is put of desperation to get a 7 footer. If we already have thabeet ( who has a cieling 5 times higher than asik ) there is no reason to aquire asik... Im not saying that thabeet fills all of our needs at center, but Asik just isnt that good. I would trade budiger for him, not lee

Bulls fans on the realgm forum say no way to Lee for Asik

They also say Morey is impossible to deal with and always asks for too much.

Why can't we trade Lee + Battier for Gortat.. At least we know what were going to get with Gortat..

Amazing how much insight those RealGM posters have on what offers their front office is receiving.

Don't know why it's hard for me to see Asik being a beast inside. Maybe it's those knee pads that he's wearing just gives out a weird vibe like it's going to give out.

I think our lack of a reliable center these last few years makes any 7 footer look amazing, even one as plain as Asik. My point is that we've been without a center for a while now, and waiting some more wont kill us. we are not gonna be contending for a while now so i wouldnt try and give up alot to aquire one just for the sake of getting one. The same argument applies to Nene. My target would be Hassan Whiteside or Thabeet because they wont be ready for a few years , but neither will we

Erden with the Celtics doesn't look as much like a stick and is pretty fluid on the court. I posted some highlights in the thread about the guy that you might find interesting. Of course, they're highlights. :)-

Erden has probably more raw talent, Asik is more solid. Both interesting prospects, without a doubt.

People are judging Asik on his physical appearance more than his actual game.

He's a good shot blocker and rebounder (10.8 and 2.1 per 36min), he's a legit lane filler, and everyone of the metric statistics have him as a spectacular defensive big man.

    adjusted plus minus

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Seriously. Why? Why are people OBSESSED with the fact that we need to get a young, 7ft, center?

You guys seriously want to overpay for Asik, who hasn't done a thing and the Bulls want an arm and a leg for him. Do you guys know he is only 6 months younger than Courtney Lee? He's going to be 25 this year.

Sure he is great on the boards, but he has no range whatsoever, he is an average at best defender in the post and he is very one-sided. Let's definitely get him cos he is a 7 footer. I think he has plenty to still work on to become even a medicore starter.

If you want a young center that has better tools and probably more to work with and is probably where Asik is at. Why not look at someone like Valanciunas or Nogueira from the draft? Even, someone like Cole Aldrich would suffice better than Asik.

I really don't get the Erden hate, he filled in nicely starting earlier this year and he's 24 on a very cheap contract. He might not be the answer but he's better than Thabeet right now

Talking about per 36, even if it is a terrible measure.

Asik would foul out in 36 minutes if given the time. But yes, as I said per 36 is not a good measure, nor real measure of what players would do. There's a reason why players play the number of minutes they are allocated.

Battier for Erden Battier + whatever for Thabeet + whatever is a way more attractive trade than Lee for Asik

And courtney lee only plays 19 MPG

we aren't looking for the 2nd coming of Dream, just a guy who can be a legit paint filler for 20-30 minutes. That has been our glaring weakness since the Yao/Mutombo combo.

We wouldn't be asking Asik to play 36 minutes a game for us anyway, so that's a moot point. Can he be a good rebounder/defender for us in ~20-25 minutes of action? If so, then he'd be a good addition. He's young and should improve.
