Why people keep stating one way or the other about Yao's intension like they are his best friends? No one, but Yao knows what he will do, even that will depend on the development of the Rockets this season, and maybe the next. So just watch the game & enjoy when you can.
Nothing of the sort. JVG actually made it easier for this particular troll to come to this site and wave his arms up and down, while yelling, "Look at me! Listen to me! Pay attention to me! Look what I can write!!"
12 Games into the T-Mac/Ming era and they're saying we haven't Meshed??? Shaq and Kobe won 3 Rings, but they got SWEPT three times in the playoffs before they did. 97' Jazz Swept Them 98' Jazz Swept Them 99' San Antonio Swept Them Give them some time Jeeez!
By that time Kobe will realize that he can't do it alone. Since there will be no freaking way to get Shaq back, he'll beg for having Yao instead... And of course, I'm sure that Yao wouldn't want to work with an alleged rapist and tell Kobe to f*** himself. Anyway, Yao certainly doesn't sound too happy these days based on the articles on various chinese websites, even the ones posted on his official site. Last year he would joke about Steve and others within the team but his tone has really changed this year (not through the US media though. He's giving the same BS responses to US reporters). And finally, never say never. With the way JVG is coaching and the ever changing roster, you just never know what he'll decide to do in 2 years.
i don't so much care about the speculation as i do about the fact they think yao can be had in 2006. newsflash. yao is under contract through 2005-2006 (the next two years). if worst comes to worst and he doesn't sign an extension after this year (rendering the FA talk moot) he will still be a restricted free agent after 2005-2006, assuming we make him a qualifying offer (which we will). what does that mean? we can match any offer yao signs. so even if the lakers have a bazillion dollars to spend under the cap, they can only offer a max contract which we can match. if worst comes to worst here, yao can sign a one year deal with us and then become unrestricted. however, that means at the earliest he is out of our control in 2007. of course, no one actually has any proof yao is unhappy or that he would change teams. and if we haven't progressed by then, well it'll be b/c yao didn't step up anyway so maybe we won't even want him (and neither will the lakers). so basically, on top of the utter stupidity of the article they don't even get the real facts right anyway. it's amazing how much stupid crap makes it into print from uninformed jounalist who think they are informed (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing).
Maybe Yao will pull a Carlos Boozer. Psyche! I don't think the Rockets would sign Yao to a one-year deal because it would be clear that it was his intention to leave. The Rockets would risk losing Yao without getting any compensation. Rather than allowing that, they would sign and trade him and get something in return. This is all speculation obviously. But one thing is for sure. Everyone is LA wants it to happen. After a year or two of sucking, the Lakers will have to do something to justify their astronomical ticket prices.
But the team keeps changing. Before he know everybody's last name, the team completely changed. It is bilateral relationship. Is Houston loyal to Stevie? Why does Houston expect players be loyal to it?
So, then I assume since everyone wants him to go to the Lakers, Yao has no problem with a team that traded away the best player in the NBA and one of the best coaches in the NBA at the behest of a guy who, at the time, was on trial for rape.
Does Yao even care about the media in Houston? I thought Yao was referring specifically to JVG. JVG and the media are two different entities.
no doubt....if some think the media and/or fans are hard on him here...just wait till you get a facefull of LA or NY! They expect the best....hell...go look at what they are saying about Rudy alredy...and he just started there....doing what their star wants....and ppl are still on his butt.
Yao will never bolt to L.A. like Shaq for the same reason he'll never dominate like Shaq: not enough ego.
This is all obviously speculation, but I can't imagine Yao could resist the allure of living in LA, not because of the celebrities and all that Hollywood crap, but if he lived in the San Gabriel Valley, he would have all the benefits of China and the United States in one place. Hell, I'm not even Chinese but I'd think of moving to Monterey Park just for the food. Not to mention all the fine Asian sistas...
Im sure all the Chinese in Houston appreciate you acting like they dont exist.... typical California ego.....thinks that California must be the end-all be-all of the country. believe it or not....there is a whole country of people that dont care to live in Freakyland(aka LA)
