Geeze, lots of hate here. SO he missed a freaking dunk, big deal. I guess Shaq or Howard never missed any dunk before. If missed a dunk makes you draw conclusion that Yao is 'old' and can't 'jump' craps, then you better quit watching Rockets games coz you going to suffer a lot.
Seriously, dude. Get yourself a real life.

I don't see how you can criticize Yao for that game. He had what, 31 points, 12 rebounds? and shot like 13/16? Come on, how can anyone criticize Yao for that game? He dominated.

A missed dunk is not a biggie. Especially when he was fouled.

I agree, hell I love the Rockets and I was yelling at Yao for missing that dunk.

Yao needs to be able to get a little more lift there and dunk that w/ authority. Just Diop's arm grabbing him shouldn't stop Yao.

That said, the Rockets are 3-0 and Yao is playing great, so if playing great and wins requires a few missed dunks, that is fine with me :D.

I can't believe Yahoo accepted this article on their website. The publisher should be fired immediately.

    100% agree!

    It's hilarious!

Diop certainly fouled him - but the contact was incidental. You guys saying he got "pulled down" are way overstating your case!! The missed dunk doesn't count as a missed FG attempt because of the foul, and since Ming is money from the FT line he gets the 2 points anyway.

But it's pretty darn funny watching the 7'6 guy get stuffed by the ring.

I know a guy at my University that's 7'4 and cannot dunk at all. Sit on that and try to figure it out.

Oh no! The distinguished Yahoo Sports has insulted us. Seriously though, half the members on this board know more about sports than anyone on Yahoo's staff.

ok, that really counts ....and Yao's got 30/10....

U know when u r over 7 feet ,u would probably feel alotta reluctance to really JUMP to dunk

Half the league finishes that play, Yao is just in the half that doesn't.

Still, I'm just glad he took it to the hole instead of trying to lay it in!

No attention was given when Kobe missed quite a few easy dunks during the olympics, but yet this was on the front page of Yahoo.

While I'm getting a life, go get yourself some glasses and a book on reading comprehension. I never said Yao was old, I said Shaq was "older and on the downside of his career..." and where did you come up with anything about Dwight Howard? I never mentioned him at all. I'm not hating on Yao at all, just pointing out the obvious. He was probably tired, is still recovering from injury, doesn't even have a good vertical to start with, and is less athletic that someone like a Shaquille O'Neal. Watching the Rocket players reject themselves on the rim with a dunk is just as frustrating as watching them blow open layups. There really isn't an excuse for it and if you take a look at Yao's reaction after he misses the dunk I'd say he agrees with that. Better yet, go ask him yourself so you can hear it directly from the source.

it was on the front page of Ball Don't Lie, a Yahoo! Sports Blog. It's their job to scour the Internet and look for funny NBA related items in the media that are creating a buzz. clearly, the video warranted such buzz...

it was a one-line link under four other BDL posts on Yahoo's front page.

Yao gets blocked by the rim again, this time nobody around him to foul/touch him. So hopefully this opens the blind Yao fans' eyes.
