I don't understand why Morey has his philosophy's about 3s and drives yet fails to go out and get any 3pt specialists. It is very easy to acquire guys like Steve Novak, Mike Dunleavy, Kyle Korver (a bit tougher), Jonas Jerebko, Courtney Lee, Marco Bellineli, patty Mills, Wes Mathews, Mike Miller and the list goes on.

We need a couple guys that are actually Elite shooters to make this system work and actually contend. It will open up the floor for Dwight in the post and unclog the lanes for Harden. Having Lin, Garcia, Cassipi, TJ and Patrick Beverly chuck 3's isnt going to be a net positive at all.

Possible they're 'dangling' Garcia because he has asked to be traded, a la Asik and Motiejunas. In which case, getting his consent probably wouldn't be so hard.

While I understand the overall premise, it is not that easy to just go get a 3 point shooter. It's much easier said than done

You have to consider contracts. Contracts like Novak and Lee are undesirable to Morey for what they bring to the table. Guys like Korver and Mathews are not easy to attain. Their value is at an all time high.

To be fair to Morey, Garcia was looking like quite the 3-point assassin last season. Everyone here was cheering when we were able to sign him to a vet min contract.

Agreed but when you look at his career body of work its clear that he was mostly on a hot streak with us. He did look great last year and I was happy with resigning him as well, but I still think that sharp shooters in this league are very attainable and if we planned on shooting the highest volume of 3pters in the league we should at least have a couple of them.

Who knew the guy would brick every three, foul on every opposing shot, and constantly get burned every game after last year. Trade or not, I just don't want to see him playing anymore, Covington can have his minutes.

That, and he performed well during the playoffs last year. Sucks that his production lately has been terrible.

I understand you don't want people on bad contracts but a lot of these guys are on very reasonable contracts and theres probably some guys that fit the bill that are in the D league/ in free agency. I just think its time to stop asset hording and to start building a cohesive team, two superstars deserve to get a legit shot in their prime when both are healthy.

Morey will not want any bad contracts, he understands this team can't win a champion in 1-2 years, he will be patient to control cap space

I don't think he necessarily shut this down. He's just saying that any deal that occurs has to come with Cisco's consent first.

And just to add to this, I also think Morey is doing a great job of hanging onto his cards until the moment is right. There is no reason to panic and give up valuable flexibility and pieces that you've worked hard to build simply because the team is suffering through a bout of short-term inconsistency. One of the big factors I gleaned from the Dwight interview after he first signed with Houston was his willingness to remain patient, and understand that this is a PROCESS. He knew that this team was not going to be a final product until the beginning of next off-season, or potentially even longer than that.

Don't think anyone would want him unless they're tanking lol. Love Garcia as a person, but he's just a liability on both ends of the floor.

It's when you don't have any other real skill so the intangibles come into play like "veteran leadership" and "scrappyness" or he plays with "heart" or "(insert corny phrase)"

This is the reason why I have stopped believe 90% of all trade rumors... a lot of them throws a lot of crap and wait for something to hit the fan...
