A little bit but Morey isnt going to make any stupid deal or make a deal for the sake of making a deal. If the rumor was true, we rejected the Grizzlies offer because of having to accept I assume 2 or more bad contracts back.
Morey offers T-Mac for Grizzlies #2 pick Morey offers T-Mac for Wiz #5 pick I'm starting to get worried now...
Minnesota proves it's still run by a bunch of incompetent hacks. This draft is a below-average one and they want two picks in a row in it in the lottery? It's obvious they are going to take a PG with one of the picks, but that just means the other one will be wasted on an overrated wing player since that's what they need now, having unloaded two backcourt starters. I'm glad to hear there's still one team out there we can fleece. McHale's spirit lives on, and this time it's not just reserved for Boston!
Im afraid you might be wrong. Dont be surprised if Minny trades those two picks for Memphis' 2nd overall pick and then Minny ends up taking Rubio. I wouldnt be shocked if they are talking about it right now as we speak.
Yea, there's got to be rhyme and reason as to why that #5 is so important to Minnesota. Shoot, trading #5 and #6 for #1 wouldn't even surprise me one bit. Rookie contracts = 3 year lease for Donal Sterling. But realistically it would be a nice coup for Kahn if he turned #5 and #6 into Harden and Curry.
Complete insanity. If Minny traded Foye and Miller PLUS the #5 pick just to draft Rubio, their GM should be court-martialed, shot and THEN sent to the Russian front. Their team is too young as it is. Drafting a diaper-dandy like Rubio to run that team is beyond stupid. They should have just kept Kevin McHale as the GM. steddinotayto, your suggestion would make a lot of sense except the Wolves don't need to add two rookies to their rotation and they need a PG after trading Foye. Telfair doesn't cut it. But Telfair + Rubio doesn't cut it either. The Wizards plundered them. I hope the Wizards rebound next season because I want to see Gilbert back in the limelight.
washington has some potential for next season C: Brendan Haywood PF: Antawn Jamison SF: Caron Butler SG: Mike Miller PG: Gilbert Arenas 6th man: Randy Foye you are dumb
Hah you make think that I'm insane but I'm just reporting what is out there and you may think the idea is insane but its a very real possibility that I think is likely to happen. And I can see Minnesota's view on it. Why not? You still have the 28th pick to pick up another player to go with a young PG (who some consider the best in a long time). Their new GM promised change and/or promised to make a splash. Seems like he is doing just that.
It makes SOME sense (not much, but still) because they're a team that's not going to be contending this year or even the next. Bring in two players that could be impact players in a couple of years and put them alongside an already-signed Al Jefferson, a still-on-rookie-contract Kevin Love, they would be building a clone of the Portland Trailblazers. As for the other 4 picks? Spread them out in various ways--cash, trade them for future 1st rounders, etc. They can still use their other 2 1st Rounders to obtain a nice young player (I know Morey would probably not do this but both the 18th and 28th for, say, Landry?). But like I said, I wouldn't even be surprised if they move most of their picks for some out-of-this-world package.
Wizards if healthy could be really deadly in the East. Heck, even w/o Arenas who is probably going to go down if Foye is their PG they would still make the Playoffs.
the other option was: The Wizards and Suns have discussed a trade that would send Amare Stoudemire and the 14th overall pick to Washington for Nick Young or Javaris Crittenton, salary fodder and the 5th overall pick. Two people familiar with the talks confirmed the report. Phoenix also requested Caron Butler, which forced the Wizards to walk away. link
Good move for the Wizards but they're still the Wizards and they still won't be able to beat Cleveland. This, of course, assuming they become relevant again.
Edit: I was wrong, but according to Ric Bucher, Minnesota would deal their 18th and 5th pick for No. 2 overall but not the 5th and 6th.
