I see we're up to seven now, and I'm matched up against Cuttino the first week. Sucks for the Commissioner to lose the first week in his own league. Maybe you should rename your team the Expos. As you can see from the trash talk, I'm really getting excited about playing this season with some serious competitors who love the Rockets. Last year, I was in a public Yahoo league, and it wasn't bad, but I think it's much better to play against people you have at least "some" interaction with. Is everybody based in Houston? I moved to DC last year, so this site is the only place I can stay involved with the Rockets community.
I am in Dayton, Ohio, not a real rockets follower really but, i like the bbs since everyone here is pretty knowledgeable about most sports
I'm sure everyone will be gunning for the commish this year. Bring it on. The curmudgeons will be going on a rampage this year - glad to see that DC is on the road to our championship. I'm in Houston; I usually play in football leagues with people I know, and in basketball / baseball leagues on this BBS. I've had some pretty good experiences with BBS leagues that stayed competitive. The one bad part about playing with Rocket fans - I have yet to be able to draft Cuttino Somebody always takes him higher than he should go IMO. Somehow, I think this season will be no exception.
I just joined. My team is The Flying Pigs. I hope we all would have a good and competitive year, but in the end the Pigs would fly, and my team would be the Champion.
And with the first pick in the 2004 Clutch City Shootout Fantasy Basketball League draft, Xtreme Chalupa selects.... Cuttino Mobley.
Sounds like a good pick to me. C'mon everybody - only 4 spots left . Let's get the league filled up with some serious competition (nothing against those who already signed up).
I am in. With team name flyinghorse. Just saw there's another team named the flying pigs If there are enough pl, I think 16 teams will be better for h2h league.
I'm in...I'm new at this and have no idea what I'm doing. LOL, if I can learn I think it'll be fun, if not at least some of you will get some easy wins. My team is the Blaze. Pugs
I don't think we should expand beyond 12 teams. Don't want to dilute the amount of talent available. Especially with 15 roster spots.
I agree. 12 teams is enough given the league parameters. Welcome newbie. You'll be just fine, as long as you prepare for the draft. Buy a magazine, read some pointers or rankings at ESPN or Sporting News. And more important than anything - don't ever give up! Keep playing to the end & you're bound to learn new things for future seasons.
so when is the draft? are the rules different than what i read, 5 different stats and whoever wins 3 of 5 is the winner? Pugs
October 26 @ 7 pm CST And just a note to everybody - if you think there is even a remote possibility that you may miss all or some of the draft, you can set a pre-rank list on your individual team page. If you pre-rank enough players you won't necessarily end up with such a bad team (but probably not the optimal team). If you don't show up & you don't pre-rank you will end up with a team of rejects & has beens. This happens to someone every year, don't let it be you! No. The rules are spelled out in the first post of this thread & the league page (click on 'League Settings'). The rules are meant to be pretty simple - the hard part is picking the players that will do the best. There are 10 stats - see league settings - and whoever wins a majority of the stats for the week gets the 'W'. It is possible some stats may end up in a tie.
