This is one of those disagree, agree, disagree (not really in any order, lol!) type posts of yours, DD, at least for me. I really don't want to deal Martin. I think he's a perfect fit for Adelman's offense and would really create space in the post for Yao and Scola to operate in (and Anthony!), while also being a threat to take it to the basket. Sure, his defense isn't anything to write home about, but when he's healthy, it isn't horrible, IMO.

Where I disagree is when you say Anthony's "a knuckleheaded prima donna." That's just rediculously over the top! Anthony is also clearly the better player, so I don't think it's "a wash." Martin might be a better fit for this team, however. It's arguable, I guess. If we really have a shot at Anthony, I'd rather trade Brooks instead of Martin, because we know what we have in Lowry. Anthony instantly gives us one of the very top 3's in the league and major league scoring. We'd have Lowry, Martin, Anthony, Scola, Yao... and still have a hell of a bench in any likely scenario. I'd do that kind of deal if he'd sign the extension. Brooks, Battier (would rather not, but you gotta give to get), Jeffries, Hill, picks, if that would work.

And no J.R. Smith. On that we have an accord!

    Deck,

Melo was in a "No snitching" campaign, he got arrested for mar1juana at an airport.

Sorry, I think he is poison, talented poison.

Watch this and you will have a change in heart.

Also, dude if you think NBA players don't smoke weed, you must be on naive individual. I bet you Brooks or Budinger smoke weed.

I understand the importance and need of superstar talent in the league to be successful. It's not totally about that. Is Melo the superstar we need? I don't know either way. I'm not against a deal, I just want it to be the right deal.

Martin was a much better defender under RA in sactown, and has worked hard to improve it this offseason. I think Martin is going to have an incredible year, just my opinion. I'd like to see a Melo, Martin combo this season if a deal is struck.

I know you want Melo at all costs, but that's not how I see it and hope Morey can make another Morey deal if possible. I know a deal will probably sting a little like the landry deal, just don't want it to be Martin.

Surprised this hasn't hit 100 pages yet. If this gets done I hope it's before the season begins.

I agree with you but I've liked Melo ever since he stepped into the league. I personally thought he should have gotten the ROY award instead of LeBron. I knew there would be something special when he beat the Horns in the NCAA championship.

Dude is a winner and I can see he's hungry for a title. That is the type of mindset we need on our team.

This is probably the longest thread in CF history. I think it's even longer than the T-Mac to Houston thread in 2004.

I don't know if I can agree. I really think he is after fame and money as well. If it was strictly about winning, then Houston should be his option. But the fact that he is even considering the Knicks just shows me he cares a lot about money and his status.

I would love to have Melo, but I am not convinced winning is the only thing on his mind.

He's not a media w**** like LeBron. It's not his fault his wife has a loud mouth.

I seriously doubt dude would pull the kind of stunts that LeBron did this offseason with the whole LeBacle and what not.

Also, unlike Bosh, he actually has interest in Houston. I can respect that.

Melo was unstoppable during this season.

How can you not be excited about having him on this team?

Melo is the better player out of him and Kev but one thing that concerns me in RA's offense is that he is a ballstopper. I think its an improvement over what we have but I really wish we could keep Martin.

There has to be longer. Probably the Yao draft thread, when 15,000 new clutchfans signed up. ;)

Lol what happened to Morey's "We aren't trading Kevin Martin"?? That lasted a good day and a half.

As much as I hate to see Kevin go, especially since he is "finally 100 percent", if it's for a guy like Melo, I think we need to do it. I'm not completely sold on "100 percent" statements anyways...*cough cough* T-Mac.

Like i've been saying all along, with Melo, not only do we get our superstar, but we also become a much more attractive destination for the 2011 free agents (Chris Paul).

You know, come to think of it, Leeb said that he heard the Nyets would get him but they had to wait for Murphy etc to be eligible to be traded.

    Isn't that around about now?

What does Leeb now? He's always been a pessimist towards the Rockets.

    And to answer your question.

If Martin is what it takes to get Melo then you have to make that move. You are getting the better player in the deal and one of the top players in the league. As efficient as Martin is, he isn't one of the top players in the league. As efficient as Martin is, with a game on the line he isn't one of the top options in basketball. Melo is what, arguably top 5? I always want the closer. Those guys are rare. Plus I think Lee can take Martin's spot. If Martin stays then our scoring is coming from the backcourt and we have an aging SF who can defend but is an offensive liability. If we made then our starting lineup takes a defensive hit but we would still have Battier. Offensively, Brooks/Lee/Melo is clearly better than Brooks/Martin/Battier. And you keep Battier. Next year we could have a gaping hole at SF (I'm not sold on Chase as a starter).

I'm assuming if Martin is included in a deal then we don't have to ship out as many other pieces since his salary is larger?

I think he is NJ's if they are really offering Favors though.
