Some people on here are hilarious to think Morey would not go after Anthony.

Denver aren't under the cap, the only player in the nba who that trade would match salaries on is Kobe :p

those guys have very poor basketball knowledge so just ignore them. it's stupid for some to even "hesitate" if they had to give up brooks or martin.

melo may have his faults, but he's a top 3 offensive player in this league and he's still in his prime. you get him if you can get him, even if you have to part with one of your top 2-3 players + picks.

morey would trade brooks or martin in a heartbeat plus picks if he could. i think denver is just looking for more.

On Sportscenter, the Rockets were mentioned with the Knicks, Nets, and another team about being the front runners for getting Anthony.

I know this info isn't new but at least we are still being mentioned.

I think Kyle Lowry could start..... Is there really enough shots to go around in a starting lineup of Brooks/Martin/Anthony/Scola/Yao?

They weren't calling us frontrunners! They were calling the Nets the frontrunners and we were another team interested. They never said we were frontrunners!

Not sure how I feel about it. Each of these guys have their positives and negatives. Melo is a greater talent, but also has greater headcase potential. And the draft picks are not nothing.

And we'll have to put up with his drag queen wife, too. :p

Kind of prefer seeing Melo going to NJ for Favors and the Rockets going after Nene or Billups. Oh well, I trust that the Rockets did their homework before making an offer.

Good point. Lee can definitely step up for more minutes. Now the Ariza trade makes even more sense (especially if the TPE is included as a part of the bargain).

Thanks for the link guys. If the Rockets made a deal for Melo, I'd like Martin to NOT be involved. I just don't know, still very torn on the whole thing.

I won't get too optimistic again, but if this does happen, I wish there would be a way to keep Martin.

I still think with or without Melo this team is a 50 win team, and as someone mentioned, going after Nene or Billups would not be so bad as an alternate.

I really like Martin, and would love to put him alongside Melo. But if it comes to something like Martin/young asset+2 draft picks+filler I would pull the trigger.

    From the link CH provided:

Obviously I think the Rockets, Nets, or just about any other team would require he sign that extension or agree to sign upon trade. Who knows though.

If the Rockets acquire Melo next Sunday night after a Texans win, I might have issues controlling my myself...

Martin + those NY picks is a hefty price for Melo, but it's also the type of deal that nets Denver an established All-Star level player.

When you compare that proposal to the NJ deal, everything about Favors is all about upside and potential. Sure, all signs seem to indicate he's going to be a major player in this league -- on the same token, however, is the chance he winds up being another Tyrus Thomas.

As far as Favors goes, Denver knows nothing is guaranteed. Maybe Denver more highly values an established player like Martin versus an up-and-coming player like Favors.

Very interesting (and thanks for posting, CH).
