Imo it would make the most since for Martin to be in the trade to go along with picks and an another young player or two.

Martin and melo are both scorers from the wing positions, it would be more balanced to keep battier to play next to melo so he wouldn't have to guard other teams best players getting in foul trouble.

No, I doubt it. Martin does them no good in a rebuilding stage.

Brooks makes the most sense since they can trade Billups for some young talent.

Everything. A fantastic GM, a fantastic coach, Luis Scola and Yao Ming who are light years better than Martin and Nene...

    Chuck Hayes and Kyle Lowry...

The list goes on... We have the most competent roleplayers and depth in the entire league...

He actually wants what Houston doesn't have. State Income Tax. ;)

Most of us might see it that way. Do you really think Carmelo Anthony sees it that way?

Yes, I think his agent has explained the benefits of joining our team to him.

Except it happens ALL THE TIME, Shaq-Marion happened midseason, Artest-Peja, Gasol, AI (going to denver), Butler and Jamison last year, Kevin Martin, Lowry, Clyde Drexler... and these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Now, to your point... that's not to say that pre-season trades don't happen. But like I said before if the price is right they'll do it. I think Houston would be just as willing to make a deal for Melo now and right before the trade deadline.

I suppose there is no "proof" of my opinion, however... I just pointed out at least a dozen times a "star" player (with the excepton of Lowry) was on the trading block for most of the season and the team in question waited until the trade deadline to make a deal.

And why does it happen? More people become buyers. What if Josh Smith in Atlanta decides he wants out as well? That would be as good a piece to grab for Melo as any. If they hurry and do the trade now, they miss out on that opportunity. What IF Chase Buddinger has a break out year this year? He would've been a throw in before the seaosn started, but if they wait to make the trade and see him suddenly playing well then they might specifically ask for him in the deal instead of say... Jordan Hill (and obviously with Melo on the team we wouldn't be able to give him enough playing time).

I just don't buy that teams will be less willing to trade for a guy like Melo because of chemistry reasons when we've seen these types of deals happen midseason ALL THE TIME.

    That is a valid question..

While it is true that we probably have the most depth and the best role players in the league or at least top 3, many people just do not see Houston as a great team. I don't know if it's our location or our recent injuries, but more times than not, Houston is overlooked when it comes to the NBA.

Denver is old is why. They have no low post presence. No depth. No youth as backups. They wont be competing once Billups gets too old. Houston is the only team on this list that makes sense if he wants to win. The state income tax gives him the most money. China gives him another avenue of money to make. It is alot in line with everything he wants minus hiw wifes wishes LALA. Who s wishes are the only reason he includes the other teams besides the Knicks. So Rockets make more sense than people think on this list more than opny of those teams. If you are asking why us with the Nets and Clippers to measure against? You as a fan might have some self worth issues. Work that out. Its the Clippers and the Nets. Thats as obvious as to why Rockets would be better player wise for anyone as it need to get if this is your list. Even Knicks if we are talking about winning here? Come on folks! You think that low of yourself as a team?

I really think it would be best for the Rockets to make whatever big splash deal they can now just because the meshing can go on in pre and early season. I think Melo is making this racket and his endgame is to get dealt before the season or early in it. If we strike out, we can probably still look forward to a Granger or a Iguadola becoming available/

Not to mention front offices, history, Championships, players of the past, ROSTERS, coaches, GMs, and owners here. Rockets VS that list lay waist in every category to those teams.

Ahhh I see I guess I read you all wrong. Sorry about that...

A report with two sources claiming Houston is at the top of Melo's list is good enough for me at the moment...

Daryl and Jack Sikma ("Greatest Center who ever lived...") were probably the sources though... ;)

I don't think he would have listed Houston if he didn't see it that way. Like someone else has said, Denver has peaked with its current team and they do not have a lot of flexibility to make major roster adjustments. He knows they have not done a good job in finding him a good #2 compliment and he want to move on. Houston is the better team. Yao/Scola is a better frontcourt than Nene/Martin. Battier is a better defensive stopper than Afflalo and Martin is a better scorer than JR smith.

The best complement to Melo is a dominant big man who is unstoppable once he gets the ball on offense and can block shots on defense..

They made it work with 2 wings that can score.

Allen/Pierce Combination is similar in certain ways with Martin/Anthony

No it is not, because Pierce passes.

Melo bulls his way into the lane..
