I hope this doesn't drag out for weeks. The suspense is killing me.

It's killing me too.... I'm also hopping Morey can take advantage of the new GM and the new owner and get a steal of a deal (i think this is more likely if the deal comes quickly).

A three way involving Bobcats? Those can get crazy. I still have scratches from the last time i got mixed up in one.

If the price is right, then maybe they do the deal before the season starts. However, they have no reason to get a deal done fast. It's to their advantage that they wait it out, and maybe a player on another team wants out and they can work out a deal similar to the Artest-Peja deal a number of years ago, or Marion-Shaq more recently.

I get that but I think it's in Denver's best interest to get something done before the season starts.

The offers will get worse for them come deadline time.

    Why?

More opportunities can pop up during the season. The first scenario I brought up was the case where another star wants off his team, and they do a talent for talent switch (similar to Marion-Shaq trade a few years ago). It doesn't have to be someone "on par" with Melo talent wise.

In any case, they do better waiting if only for the reason to see how good the Knicks picks are going to be. If New York makes a deal early in the season and looks to be an 8th or 7th seed by the trade deadline, our picks don't look as good and they won't be valued as high. Of course, the opposite is true if the Knicks lose Amare to an injury.

They will get more by trading him before the season starts...they will save themselves more money before the season starts. Whether he signs an extension upon trade or not....they will still get more out of a team by giving them a full year to impliment him into team.

We would be more willing to deal rotational players before the season starts then say january and Chase is lighting it up and kevin martin has untouchable nos... and the team has developed chemistry.

Teams dont like to make big chemistry altering moves midseason. (see kevin garnett) ...

Why does he want out of Denver so bad? The Nuggets have been a pretty good team. What does he want that Houston has and Denver doesn't?

this is why it's curious as to why melo wants to sign with Houston. It seems that he and his wife and interested in exposure which Houston doesn't really offer. If he went to ny, brooklyn, or la he would get that. Maybe he really likes morey?

Why not? The other teams listed in all of this speculation suck. Denver has peaked in my opinion and he doesn't see a ship coming there.

His boys are destined to win now and he wants the same. I think he can get it done in Houston and it doesn't hurt that he shares the same agent as Yao. We have a young core that can win for years. Hopefully, he recognizes this.

Someone needs to cash in on the China market. Might as well be Melo..

Someone quoted that he said he doesnt think you can win in this league without a dominant post guy.

Thats one thing Houston has that Denver doesnt.

Furthermore the Nuggets are surprisingly old. Its unlikely Billups, Anderson, Smith, Martin get any better and they arent good enough as is.

    Simple answer....

He has a problem with Denver Front Office. He doesn't think they are going in the right direction. Morey on the other end has put together a great team that can compete with anyone even without another superstar. Thats the difference.

He knows he needs to play next to a big man to compete with the lakers, that's what denver has always lacked size and a true post presence.

Here we have that and a pg that gives the Lakers fits, to go along with a good bench.
